Thank you for emphasizing this. Though the European and Italian cars that the GTD set out to compete with are probably wearing turbos in many cases.
I’d bet it’s true in all cases for street legal production cars. The Viper and C8 impress me because Dodge and GM did the work and produced outstanding cars that are almost affordable. Ford hired it out and got an outstanding car at a price that says fuck it, just buy a Ferrari.
Porsche says hello, and asks what this “turbo” thing you speak of in regards to the GT3…

Many; not all.
So which cars in that top ten have forced induction, and which don't?
Also, do any have hybrid aspects, other than the AMG One?
And do any have a third pedal and shifter?

I had the good fortune to run 5 laps of the Ring as a passenger with Sabine Schmitz (RIP) and her well prepared BMW M5 Ring Taxi in 2010. I don't recall the time, but think it was mid 7's... and it scared the shit out of me. She made hauling the big V-10 M5 around the Ring seem like we were going to pick-up groceries.

RIP Sabine. Was on my list & was really sad when she passed. Love the "I'll do that in a van" TGUK episode.

All of them have a paddle shift or sequential shift gearbox.
The Radical has a NA engine, but it barely qualifies as a "car" and more like a Can-Am racer certified for road use. All of the Lambos were either NA V10s or NA V12s depending on model, and the Porsche GT3s should be NA as well.
Only the AMG One is a hybrid.

The involvement of Multimatic and the German driver takes a lot of the wind out of the "USA! USA!" sails, IMO. It's cool to see a domestic brand in that top ten, but It's arguable that the car itself, and certainly it's driver, aren't really "Murican".
Of the six drivers of the two Ford/Multimatic cars on the 2016 LeMans podium, only one was from the US. He was in the first place car at least. Another driver of that first place LeMans FordGT drove the GTD.
I see where the critics are coming from. The Yanks didn't exactly kick the door in and lay down an unexpected sub-seven lap. They hired some Canucks to build a car that they hired a Kraut to drive.

Porsche does it much quicker and less expensive. What a nothing burger. Ring times are fodder anyways. More for the internet than reality. More for marketing than reality. This thing was only built for 5.0 sales.
KSGM is right.

Blame NASCAR. The development leagues for American road racers are practically non-existent, so Ford used it's WEC/IMSA drivers (most being European) for development.

Looking at the sub-7 second lap list; it should be obvious that Porsche SERIOUSLY makes fast sports cars.
They do not make pick-up trucks, nor need to hire outside help to create "one off" pretenders!
I daily drove a Porsche 930 (911 Turbo) so I'm somewhat prejudiced. At 82, I miss those days!

Nice. Cool to see an American car that looks like a car and costs less than most homes be competitive. I'm sure maintenance is only a fraction also. The Jay Leno videos like this are always worth watching.
That MB AMG One is just sick. By no means a production car and these kind of "Cars" really need their own class. The MB site for the AMG One is very good... Basically as close as you could possibly get to a modern F-1. The engine... OMG! Just like the F-1 "Power Packs" electric motors to spool up the turbo then operate them inversely to charge the capacitors and battery. Amazing
The dream of bringing Formula 1 technology directly to the road has come true. With this premium-class E PERFORMANCE plug-in hybrid, a 1.6-litre V6 turbo petrol engine and four electric motors for the turbocharger, crankshaft and front axle act together to deliver an impressive 1063 hp system performance. Combined with the powerful, directly cooled 800-volt battery developed exclusively by High Performance Powertrains, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 engine builder,

Agreed ^ I see them pass thru at work from time to time... 100% they are by no stretch of the imagination a car, more like a big-boy, $$$$$ go-cart
On a related note, I love this video. Porsche/German [over?] R&D... They made this test bed / dyno to replicate the g-forces placed on an engine running the ring complete with actual map and throttle tracking.

Ken Miles was English, the GT40's body came from England, does that mean we need to wipe those USA Ford wins off the list, absurd, racing has always had international connections.

It always weirds me out to see Chris Farley speaking in a non-comedic setting. Then you realize it's his brother... Then it's weird that Chris Farley's brother runs Ford. Wild!

That's true. I commented on that in a different post a while back. The GT40 and RS200 are two of my all-time favorite cars. Both of those Fords are largely English.
I don't leverage it against them that much, but I do think it's worth mentioning. It's not exactly "in-house". Some of the big European brands can probably boast true in-house design/development. My knowledge of racing and it's international connections is admittedly limited though.
