CoinRollerNew Zealand mosque defender throws credit card machine
Fox News is reporting that the defender at the New Zealand mosque was able to distract the attacker by throwing the “only thing he could find- a credit card machine”
Why would a mosque have a credit card terminal in the same area of worshipers? Do you believe it was for donations? It’s been a couple years since I went to my Methodist chapel, but aren’t donations only in cash/checks, or has the credit culture invade houses of worship now?

sigfreundWhen people regularly pay for a $2.00 cup of coffee with a card because they don’t have that much cash (and to get the rewards), I am not the least surprised that using a CC for anything related to house of worship giving is also common.

EdmondMy wife's old church back at home, I always considered them trying to shake people down on Sundays. He'd count the tithe, then ask people to dig down a little deeper.
I gave $5 for Christmas services but didn't give any other times. That's if I went at all. It was in the 'hood so I didn't like going there.

My church doesn't have a credit card machine at the door, but I pay my weekly tithe via my debit card. When the International Christmas Market is under way, I know that there are credit card machines on board for payments for items purchased.
No, as far as I know, offerings during services are by check or cash.

a1abdjI was in a large area church that had "giving kiosks" spread around the lobby. Looked like credit card/atm machines that you could use to make a donation.

I think we only have a couple of these in the area...all the big churches prefer automatic debit from your bank account

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
