Effective January 1, Boulder Law Criminalizes Law Abiding Gun Owners
quote:
Because I own a long gun with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine, I had to the end of December to self-identify to the police, present myself for investigation and my gun for inspection, pay fees in order to receive a police-issued permission slip, all to avoid jail time, monetary penalties, and the confiscation and destruction of my gun.

Jon Caldara has decided to fight, rather than comply. Here are his own words:

This is an editorial by Jon on the same subject. The quote I opened with is drawn from this public statement.

Caldara: On January 1, I Became a Criminal in My Hometown of Boulder

I don't think it is actually a gun ban, but rather an abridgment of rights protected by the constitution. The author does a good job of pointing out the ridiculous hypocrisy of this movement.

I'm starting to think the only response any of us should consider to this nonsense is..."I will not comply".

Seems to me that democracy ended in colorado some time ago.

But they seem to be willing to write laws as they wish them to be, so writing those in direct conflict with the US Constitution is no bother or problem for them. All those damned sillywood types who fuck up where they lived, moved away because they didn't like it anymore, and promptly started doing it all over again.

Same thing here in N. Virginia. Assholes fucked up MD, moved into our 3 northern counties, and promptly started re-doing what the ran from in MD.

Okay. Swell. All good when they (the JBTs) are not doing anything about it. And what do we do when the turn down our block in an armored vehicle, eight guys with M4s running alongside?

Unintended consequences?

Is this going to happen where you live? It’s certainly not going to happen where I live. Yeah, that’s right, I said it’s not going to happen. It’s a bold statement, Cotton. But, it’s a true statement. Why? Everybody likes to focus on the JBT as you put it, but that’s the early stages. The late stages is court. And around here, juries won’t convict, even in federal court, for foolishness. And that is foolishness. AUSA’s are not going to authorize such actions because they’ll never get convictions.

If anyone is afraid of this as a reality, perhaps you should look at moving to a location that it isn’t a worry. But, outside of liberal strongholds, this is the case in much of free America. People scream about “enforcing the laws on the books” but the problem is that with 2A issues, prosecutors have a hard time getting convictions unless there are other things tied to it such as meth or violent acts. That is the reality, folks.
