Great looking knives. +1 on the tip from Xer0 for single needle stitching. A 3/16" mosaic pin would be perfect in the handle through the tang, just a thought. | |||

Hey guys, Thank you so much for the support. This has been a process that I started, mainly because I find it very rich for the soul. Something amazing about making something with my hands. I am very familiar with Jantz  They have taken much of my money. Right now I am trying to track down some 410 Stainless so I can attempt another San Mai billet. Whew that stuff is expensive. I started with the single needle approach. However, what I have found is that the 2 needle saddle stitch, every stitch is a knot so it makes for a binding connection not likely to unravel. I have it down to about 20 seconds a stitch. Tomorrow, I return to work on the remaining three knives in process and forge a new Damascus billet. I hope to have my shop 'rebuild' done so that I can work more efficiently at the house. This new billet will make 3-4 knives and one knife will be used to test and destroy. I just want to see how the welds hold up. Unfortunately, that means the blade is destroyed. But then I know the limits of the edge, material and it builds confidence in the process and my skill. Mrs. Redstone is already leaning on me to start selling them, especially since I purchased a 40t forge press That monster can squish!Again thank you guys for the support, I look forward to showing you the san mai when I finish it this weekend. Not yet, and I am unsure. I do 90% of my work with Resilience Forge This is the real reason I got into all of this, I was helping my friend Kyle and I just kept working and learning. Getting to help vets learn as well just makes it truly wonderful. This business will get out of control.
