maladatI took some pictures of one of those last summer.
It showed up right at dusk and I honestly thought it was a hummingbird until I started looking at the pictures. I'll dig up the pictures and post one later today.

PHPaulI saw one feeding on my impatiens a couple of days ago. Little dude tho, about the size of a bumblebee.
Grandson has a HUGE azalea in front of his new house, we saw one up there about the size of a hummer. First time I'd ever seen one, had no clue what it was. Had to Google it.
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

braillediverThey'd be around the bushes in Charleston SC when we came back all drunk. Never knew what they were.

ridewvI never heard of them but it looks like an interesting moth.
No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

flesheatingvirusLots around me, too. They can get pretty large. Beautiful bugs. I’ve seen them get chased off by hummingbirds.

clubleaf206We used to have a mimosa tree, I remember seeing those when the tree would be in bloom. Rather neato.

SOKYSigThey have been around here for about 3 weeks. Ruby Red Hummers are on the feeder and the moths are on the smaller flowers.

UTsigThey are pretty cool. I was up in the mountains yesterday and saw one, should have stayed a bit and got some photos.
A friend posted last night that the bats around his house love them, find parts all over in the morning.

GambitI look forward to their return every year. They are completely unafraid of humans.

BamaJeepsterCool...I don't know if this is the same species, but it's a large one we got a pic of a few years ago.

frayedendsThe first time I saw a hummingbird moth I thought I was in wonderland. It was so strange looking and it took years until someone posted a thread here about them before I knew what I had seen. They are awesome looking. Only seen about 3 in my life.
We have some awesome moths here on Mount Wachusett. I was trying to find a pic of a super cool one that had wings separated and above the body, camouflage like a rock. It's shape looked like some sort of Klingon battleship.
I can't find the damn pic Nevermind, I found it...
The biggest I've seen was this Luna Moth. I thought a damn bird was hitting my door. Went out and this guy was flying into the door and light. I shut out the light and he landed on the door and stayed until late the next morning.
These go to eleven.
