sdyPelosi’s Husband a collar for drunk driving
more detail to earlier post:
https://nypost.com/2022/05/30/..._campaign=SocialFlowHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Porsche-driving husband was involved in a two-vehicle crash in California before his weekend arrest for drunken driving, police have since revealed.
Paul Pelosi, 82, was attempting to cross in Napa County’s State Route-29 in a 2021 Porsche late Saturday when he was in a collision with a 48-year-old man driving a 2014 Jeep, the California Highway Patrol said.
There were no reported injuries and the police report does not identify either driver as being at fault
However, the driver of the Jeep was not arrested, while Pelosi was busted at 11:44 p.m. and booked into the Napa County Detention Center, records show.
He was charged with one count of driving under the influence and another for driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher, the online booking report shows. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Pelosi was released at 7:26 a.m. Sunday on $5,000 bail, the records show.
“The speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,” said her spokesperson, Drew Hammill.

Balzé HalzéAnd if your name is in the police blotter, it's no longer a private matter. Especially when it involves the spouse of a high ranking public official.

bigwagonIt's an embarrassment for the family, but the consequences will be relatively insignificant. He won't go to jail or face ruinous financial ramifications. And I doubt Nancy will lose any votes over it.

I wonder what the ramifications for the CHP Officer will be? I’m hoping his Union is circling wagons and getting counsel lined up, I can see all sorts of issues for the cop. Ole Nancy is vindictive and is the 3rd most powerful person in the country.

To fight this charge would be incredibly stupid. The path is to be contrite, pay the fine and deal with the consequences. You do not want to shine more light on an embarassing situation.
Maybe even make a donation to MADD.

Zs you’re thinking like a responsible person who owns their mistakes. Do you really think the Pelosi’s think they have an indicia of wrong or fault in this?

ZSMICHAELOf course not, but they are smart enough to do what I suggested. Other members of Congress have done just that. Patrick Kennedy is a good example.

yaniciSecond DUI in 4 years, huh. That should mean something significant in sentencing. Don't know the California system though.

corsairHe's a known drunk that's gotten away with a handful of other incidents; classic case of well-to-do local, who's donations are appreciated by the community. Local PD has 'assisted' the security detail and personal assistants, with Mr Pelosi's 'issues' with alcohol.
Where the accident happened isn't too far from their 'compound' along the Napa River.

Three is the charm in most states. Mandatory jail time then.

That’s precisely what I was going to write.
He's in his 80's, rich, and powerful. Nothing is going to happen. Pay some fines, loss of license for a year and that's it.
Even if they threw the book at him it's zero effect on him or the speaker.

That would make it felony OWI in my state...all it takes is a prior conviction within the past 7 years. Frankly, though, while I think Nancy is a disgusting human being, I don't see how she can be held responsible for something her husband did while she was on the other side of the country...provided she doesn't do something stupid like try to use her influence to make it go away.

I don't know about that. If you were married to Nancy, wouldn't you drink to forget?

AzMikeCFD102EXCLUSIVE: Pelosi's multi-millionaire husband Paul killed his 19-year-old brother when he lost control and flipped his sports car in early-morning 'joyride' when he was 16-years-old - 65 years before this weekend's arrest for drunk driving crash
Paul Pelosi was 16 when he flipped his sports car and killed his older brother who was his passenger
According to reports at the time David Pelosi had urged him to slow down as he approached a tight curve on California's Skyline Highway
But Paul lost control as he tried to slow down and his car bounced between embankments, somersaulted and landed upside down trapping both
Paul broke his collarbone but managed to get free and summon aid
But David, 19, was strangled by a brace he wore to support a neck fracture he had sustained in a diving accident
Paul, 82, was arrested on Saturday for drunk driving after he drove his Porsche into the path of oncoming Jeep driven by Jesus Lopez, 48
Lopez was not charged and neither man was injured

If i recall correctly; in California if you exceed the legal limit, you are at fault regardless of the circumstances of the "accident."
For example, other driver can blow through a stop sign but if you exceed the 0.08 limit, you are at fault.

Better hope she's drunk because you are always at fault for rear ending somebody.
When I was in the Navy had a young-n-dumb female rear end somebody while driving up the Strand.
I told her she was at fault for following too close. She was adamant with her response of, and I shit you not, "it wasn't my fault, they were going too slow and the road was wet."
Oh, and the other person was sober.
