The air compressor at work had a copper pipe that vibrated and cracked. It was struggling at filling the tank. This is a large Ingersol Rand compressor.
I went down the street to an HVAC company I am familiar with. They actually flared a copper pipe for this same compressor a while back.

I asked if they may be able to give me a hand. They did, and one of the techs came over and used a product called SolderWeld and repaired it.

The interesting part, is the owner of the shop, recognized my truck, location, and that I work for a “lotion factory”, and asked if I was on the Sigforum!!!

He said he’s not a member, but reads it daily. Same as me, he gets most all his news here at the sigforum, because it has all the trash filtered and only facts are stated. We chatted about Sigforum a bit.

Dave, it was a pleasure to meet you. I hope you join the discussions here, and we will make it out shooting when business slows a little.

Thanks again!

Great story, hope your new friend joins and contributes!

(It took me a minute to figure out your title - I think you meant someone good at soldering - you accidentally added an i in there and I kept looking for a military connection somewhere Smile )

It happens to the best of us Big Grin Big Grin

I have met several forum members in person, and even found out I graduated from high school with a member and didn't know it for several years but never met someone on the street who knew about the forum - it's a small world!
