400mDisposable filters
I’m looking for disposable filters to strain mineral spirits after scrubbing grimy parts clean or cleaning paint brushes in a mason jar. I’d like to find something that attaches to the mouth or has a frame to sit still on the jar while I pour from one jar to another. Just so I don’t have to hold the filter with one hand while I pour. Is there anything quick and easy that isn’t such a balancing act to use?

oddballA cheap coffee cone filter holder would work, paper filters are cheap.

400mDo the funnels slide around and tip if you don’t hold them? It’s not a total deal killer but it sure would be nice.

400mOddball, I don’t think that silicone will stand up to mineral spirits.

400mWhat mesh screen in those strainers would be good for filtering junk from spirits? Reusable filter funnels would be convenient.

Go to Amazon, enter "single cup coffee filter holders" and you'll find a bunch at various prices, made from various materials; stainless steel, ceramic, plastic, etc. I have a plastic Melitta one from the 1980s I still use, I'm sure it will withstand most solvents.

CPD SIGToss the coffee filter in the funnel
It’s going to take a while for it to filter through, but it’s cheap and effective
Hit a hardware store, use screen. As in the ones on your window. There’s also different size ones (as far as the holes). Mash it down in a funnel as well.

tatortoddI grew up with father who painted in autobody. I believe what you're looking for is a mesh cone paint strainer and stand.

pace40Any polypropylene funnel will work. Insert filter material of choice. I use coffee filters to filter crystals when I make my own leather dye from denatured alcohol and Ritz dye, but I like it to sit in the filter longer to soak up as much color as possible. Pantyhose will filter quicker and window screen quicker than that. Just depends on how fine you want it. The plastic caps on mineral spirit cans are made of polypropylene.
