Seems every news report recently regarding a US Navy warship refers to it as a battleship, so in the current vernacular warship and battleship have become identical.

The problem with the current Aegis destroyers and cruisers is magazine capacity. Initially the primary weapon was the standard missle for anti-air warfare. Now VLS cells also contain anti-ballistic missle versions, Tomahawk land attack missles, maybe Harpoon anti-ship missles. Not to forget some cells devoted to close-in Sea Sparrows. The VLS launcher is not reloadable at sea. So depending on the situation, current Aegis ships can realitively quickly depleat the particular missile needed for the threat.

A battleship sized Aegis ship can have very large VLS capacity to contain many more of the current missile variants as well as new ones. Such as an anti-drone version so we don't have to keep firing very expensive standard missiles at cheap drones. Just a thought.
