I guess it's a sign of my age that I knew what this thread was about before I clicked on it. And yes, the Duke gets a good one in at the end.

The best TV show of the 1970s.

No one avoided their satire. The good sports, like Mr. Wayne, knew their detractors were next in the barrel.

I'm watching the entire series right now - up to Season 3 Episode 9

it has some great stuff - Tiny Tim, Sammy Davis Jr, Flip Wilson - would never see stuff like that on tv today

I was pretty young when this was still on TV, but I was old enough to appreciate the young women dancing around on the stage. Some cute ones with reasonably revealing outfits...

Same thing I appreciated about HeeHaw at about the same time in my life.

I enjoyed watching Laugh-in when it first came on from my teen years through high school.

When I googled to see if HeeHaw and Laugh In were on TV at about the same time; the first link I saw stated that HeeHaw was created a6bout 1 year after Laugh In and they made is specifically because Laugh In was such a big hit. So - a country version of Laugh In. Both started in late 60s
