...Laugh-In Wait for Duke's zinger at the end. "The Sky" by John Wayne. I was actually watching this with my family when it aired. My dad loved the poem and would recite it thereafter from time to time. Both clips from March, 1968

I guess it's a sign of my age that I knew what this thread was about before I clicked on it. And yes, the Duke gets a good one in at the end.

The best TV show of the 1970s. No one avoided their satire. The good sports, like Mr. Wayne, knew their detractors were next in the barrel. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

I'm watching the entire series right now - up to Season 3 Episode 9 it has some great stuff - Tiny Tim, Sammy Davis Jr, Flip Wilson - would never see stuff like that on tv today

I was pretty young when this was still on TV, but I was old enough to appreciate the young women dancing around on the stage. Some cute ones with reasonably revealing outfits... Same thing I appreciated about HeeHaw at about the same time in my life. ------------------ SBrooks

Where oh where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched the world over and thought I found true love. You met another and pthttttt! You was gone. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

Maybe you’ll find this more entertaining than Mrs DF did. I stood outside her bathroom door this morning and crooned that song to her complete with the raspberries. She asked how old I am today. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

Here's my interpretation... ♫ Well we made it through all of the dating drama Then settled right down and said "This is it!" But then came a visit from your dear old sweet momma. She took one look and said "He's full of shit."♫ {nudge nudge, Donald Trump turns around} {harmony} ♫Where oh where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all a-lone? I searched the world over and thought I found true love. You met another and {phht} you were gone!♫

When I googled to see if HeeHaw and Laugh In were on TV at about the same time; the first link I saw stated that HeeHaw was created a6bout 1 year after Laugh In and they made is specifically because Laugh In was such a big hit. So - a country version of Laugh In. Both started in late 60s ------------------ SBrooks

Got my game plan set for next Tuesday morning. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. "If dogs don't go to Heaven, I want to go where they go" Will Rogers The definition of the words we used, carry a meaning of their own...
