It's as odd to me as seeing an Inuit guy playing a concert harp.
I did not catch that and totally agree. I did see during the video a long bow being used.

USA Kilts out of PA has a really informative youtube channel for all things kilts and Scottish/Irish culture for those that are interested. I've got a few kilts. One of which is from them. They make a great product.

The initial video, posted by Himself, put me off within the ten seconds it took for me to realise that the guy making it was wearing a plaid AND some kind of outdoor clothing pants.
As we'd say over here 'what a wuss'.
I'll eat my keyboard if you can show me a Scot doing the same thing.
I'll need proof, mind.
THIS is how a kilt ought to be worn, and no other way -
Funny, I was told the very same a couple years ago by a Scotsman. We had a team building paint ball game and I told my guys I would wear a kilt and my peer from the project side dressed as Capt Chaos. I said to the Sr. CPM something to the effect of "wears your kilt Mike....were you scared to show your legs" His response cracked me up..."first of all my kilt cost way too much to wear to a fucking paint ball game" "and what you're wearing is a fucking skirt with pockets...not a fucking kilt"
*there were a couple more "fucking" thrown in I am sure for emphasis
And for the record I did not go "full Regimental" to avoid any possible HR complaints

Interesting watch, I'm not going to be purchasing anything or trying anything new, but it was definitely informative.

When wearing a kilt whilst riding a horse, do you straddle or ride side saddle?
And... If you straddle, do you sit on the kilt or bare ass to saddle?

Here's a little kilt-ish story, if you'll bear with me.
Many years ago, one of my American service personnel work colleagues and his wife got a great longing to go back to the USA with some genuine Scottish duds. I recall him asking my Warrant Officer, who WAS a Scot, to give him advice on what to look for and where to go for it.
I dropped off the husband and wide team in Knightsbridge, London, not far from Harrod's and just around the corner from THE Scottish clothing and regalia store - The Scotch House.
In they went and were almost instantly met by a greeter [note the Scottish kind, note], but a person whose job it was to ensure that they went to the right department.
'How can we be of assistance today, Sir and madam?'
'We want to buy some 'Scotch [sic] clothing to take back to USA with us. My pal Eddie [the Scots WO] advised me that you'd be able to match our surname up to an appropriate clan or sept, so's we'd be wearing the correct stuff at any highland Games we might go to in future.
'That is quite correct, Sir. Many, many people have connections that they might be unaware of, and TBH, there are names that are still under review by the attributions committee for their possibility as having some kind of Scottish connection, however tenuous it might be. May I know your name, so that I can look it up to a match?'
'Oh yeah, our name is Schaffernaker. My grandpa was a POW who never went back after the end of the war.'
'Hmmmm,' quoth the help 'this might be a tricky one. What had you in mind by way of Scottish clothing? A tie, a set of matching trews, perhaps, or even a kilt?'
'Oh, no,' quothe our American friend,' both my wife and I are learning to play the war-pipes, and we'd like a complete set of pipe-major's regalia from top to toe, and a set of decent pipes each, oh, and dirks with real cairngorms - you know what I mean - like this'. At that point he produced a colour photograph of the Regimental Pipe Major of the Black watch.
The sounds of the cash register reverberated in the mind of the young man, who could see, even back then, a sale of around £10000 or more in his future.
'Well now' he said, 'getting a perfect match might be slightly tricky, but would that be the Highland or Lowland Schaffernackers we are thinking of here.....?'This message has been edited. Last edited by: tacfoley,
