Familiar with website “ID.me” ?
A buddy just suggested this site to me, says he gets fantastic Veteran discounts from it.

Seems too good to be true, which means it probably is. Any of you guys familiar with it?

There are discounts that I've used. I wouldn't say 'fantastic' from a LEO stand point, perhaps Veterans get more % off.

I have to say it is kind of fantastic. I’ve gotten from good to very good. It’s legit as far as I can tell.

I thought ID.me was for logging into .gov websites? I use it for VA stuff

My understanding is that it's a single site that asks for those who think they qualify for their qualifications (documents) so they can be vetted prior to making purchases from vendors who use their services to authenticate and verify qualified customers before giving discounts. This eliminates each vendor having to ask each customer for their qualification documents thus saving them time and money by giving discounts out to frauds. I've used it several times without issue.

Its one the sign in options that the VA website now uses.

ID.me doesn't give you veteran's discounts. The on-line sellers that can use ID.me for identity verification, veteran's status, and the like do, though.

Apple is one such example.

No, ID.me is simply an authentication service used by other sites, both government and commercial.

This is a legit site, I've used it quite a bit. The Veteran Discount can be in addition to sales, I did great with some Under Armour shirts. I, also, used it for my new IPhone. Well worth signing up and checking for companies that give discounts.

I use it. I've stopped getting notices from the VA that they've "accidentally" leaked my personal information since they used this third party to identify me. I've seen several companies use it for veteran and first responder discounts. I have no reservations regarding the ID.me site

Pretty sure they were used by Fox Nation to validate service members for their free trial offer to vets.

I use it as does the USGov.

I’ve used it to get an EMS discount at the Adidas Outlet. Had no issues with it.

ID.me is GTG. Used it in the past for Under Armour items when UA offered military discount. mil discount. Filed my taxes on line and used it to log in to the IRS website to verify some random information..

Another user. Never a problem. They also send out emails with participating vendors offer for your consideration. Got some good bargains from them.

Yup. The ID.me site verifies my veteran status for Apple and other sites, to qualify for veteran discounts.

I have not encountered any spam, nor any other problems resulting from using ID.me

I use it. About all of the places (such as Aimpoint, Oakley, Safariland) that offer discounts require authentication through ID.me. Safariland is 50 percent twice per year, Oakley I think is 50 percent on two pair of glasses per year and Aimpoint is 20 percent on two Optics per year.

I know I’ve bought from other companies using it, but those are the ones that stuck in my mind.

As others said, it's a site that verifies who you are in general and also veteran and, apparently, LEO status.

One potential for confusion is that if you start an account at a website using ID.me for verification, next time you log on to that site, you have to go through the ID.me process instead. So the website will have the regular log in entry points but below will also be icons to log in via facebook, google, or ID.me.

Beside vendor sites that give the military discounts, I also use ID.me for the VFW website.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
