already all over social media that the guy checked his ticket this morning after a work meeting and immediately hightailed it out of there!
I'm not saying I wouldn't faint. I'm not even saying I wouldn't throw up on the spot.
I am saying I could be more subtle about my departure and feign illness or family emergency on my way out after.
eta - just realized one of our tickets did win. $10. Don't see me asking my owners/employers for my $1.43.....This message has been edited. Last edited by: Georgeair,

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

$800M cash would cause way more problems for you than it would solve.
This.
I would keep $1 million, to play with. Give $1 million to each member of my family. Then, take the other $790+ million and put it in a charitable trust that I can't access, any longer, but I am the director of. Then, I'd follow Bill Gates' example and target some problems I want to fix, hire some ruthless superstars to fix those problems, and then ride them mercilessly until we had results.
Just throwing money at well-meaning, caring, liberal-arts majors isn't a plan. If you want to solve problems, you need to hire a General Mattis and sic him on it.

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams
“It is just as difficult and dangerous to try to free a people that wants to remain servile as it is to try to enslave a people that wants to remain free." -Niccolo Machiavelli
The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken
