Went out for midnight run and got smacked..............by the ground.
Simple out and back. Out, no problems. Back, same path, but totally forgot about the bump as I crossed a business' parking lot. Just as I suddenly remembered it, I was already on the way down to kiss the cement. Consider myself blessed, because nothing is broken. Just a scraped knee and bruised ribs. Also, nobody saw the embarrassing tumble. Big Grin

Midnight run? Me I'm snoozing at that hour. Glad you're ok.

Glad you are alright, I hope you carry when you run. In my running days, prior to my back issues (now my orthopedic surgeon says the running impact is messing up my L5 so I stopped jogging) I tended to get up early and jog. I would start around 0330 and get in five miles before heading to work. I was never a serious runner but enjoyed jogging. Anyway, I always carried since over the years I had a couple encounters that could have gone south quickly.

Ouch! Good thing it's nothing too serious. Hopefully you didn't fracture any ribs or tear anything, rib injuries suck.

Good that nothing drastic happened besides a minor scrape.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I remember those nights, and the occasional unexpected bump.

What and how are you carrying?

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I don't carry when running. Roll Eyes

I feel your pain! I've been running about 35 years (though rarely at midnight...) and every few years I manage to trip on perfectly smooth sidewalk or pavement. Not on a crack or pothole, a 100% smooth surface.

Hope you're better soon. Thankfully I've had no physical injuries, just emotional distress from embarrassment.
