Seems like we had a thread about this man and his build back about the time he was finishing it up. Funny the things that amaze you. I kept looking at that nose blister and thinking, “What an accomplishment to recreate that!” Of course, everything about the build defies description. Sorry for his widow.

That would be the only thing that could make that video better - a small monkey in the turret shooting blanks !!

Awesome talent and commitment.
Obviously loved his hobby. I'm glad to hear that he enjoyed it before he died.

I wish I could have shown this to my dad. He passed away last year. He was a B17 pilot in WWII. I think he would enjoyed seeing what this man did.
Thank you for sharing this video,1s1k.

That would have been cool. It would be interesting to hear from someone who actually flew the real thing.

Several years ago, he was able to give me tour of one when an airshow came to town. The pilots that had flown it there were aboard; they were very respectful and allowed him a great deal of access in the cockpit. It was a moment I will never forget.
He never opened up about his time overseas until about 18 months before he passed, after his first stroke. None of his children had a clue, because he never talked about flying in battle before. I was glad I was able get some of his remembrances on video.

I was expecting a massive R/C, but was pleasantly surprised.
I remember a scale R/C B52 years ago, maybe 1/10 scale.

Wow! When I first started watching this video, I thought it was an RC plane, then when the pilot got in it, I was totally blown away!

He used plans for a 1/10 scale RC plane and scaled them up. Just amazing. Here's an interview with him before it first flew:
