I've been watching some of their recovery videos.

It's amazing how well he knows the area - one time, he was on the phone w/ a client. The client showed him the surrounding view via cell phone and Matt was able to figure out where the client was located for the recovery.

He makes most of the recoveries look so easy and he just drives anywhere. I would think twice about walking on some of the ground he just effortlessly drives over. I'd be worried about tipping over most of the time, or sliding. Best case, just simply getting stuck.

But mostly, I'm wondering where all these places are. Some of the places, I wouldn't go because my truck and/or I don't have the capability and/or it's too scary. Other places, I might try only if I had a buddy - looks fun but may get stuck. And some places just look great and want to go check it out. But have no idea where these places are....

But where in UT are these trails? I know sand hollow is one area. It would be nice perhaps if he included a park name or coordinate location or something that would help locate each recovery on a map.

I for one knew exactly what he was talking about. But yeah, could be a lot better.

I live in Matt's area, can figure out where he is locally. But he ranges far out, places that I never heard of. I've driven a lot of the roads he goes on, a lot of the people just broke something.

Locals know some amazing places, with social media these are becoming destinations for folks that have no business trying to find. The simple road to Toquerville Falls is featured in several of his videos, folks have to try it. Then they say "I heard of Rattlesnake, how about that". Then Matt gets a call.

Robert and I at the Falls.

I've been watching Matt's videos for about a year now. Fab Rats is another one that I follow. He sometimes goes on recoveries and helps Matt out.

Just be sure to pronounce it 'Hura-kin' and 'Hurricane'.

UTsig: I wish I had time to go to the falls last time. Looks nice! But don’t regret prioritizing the slot canyons. They were amazing. Planning for the next trip.

Southwest Utah is a beautiful area. I covered a lot of it on foot when I was in geology field camp back in college. Fascinating geology on both sides of the Hurricane ("Hura-kin" as 4x5 pointed out) Fault, which is the large normal fault that defines the western edge of the Colorado Plateau.

I'd never heard of Matt's, but I've watched a few videos and already seen places that I recognize. I admire his ability to remain professional when you know he's wondering what the heck people were thinking. It also appears that a number of these "off-roaders" rented little SUVs in Vegas and decided to test the limits of the rental insurance.
