I will wager to guess some issues with ATF or other Federal Agency. Just be the focus of a tax audit that is used for "research purposes", that costs you several thousand dollars. The net result is that nothing is found amiss, it takes a year to resolve. The Federal government if it wants can wear you down and waste lots of your time.

If he wants to share more it is up to the OP.

Everyone has a bad idea and/or bad day here or there. Only advice I can give you is don't be bitter and show up everyday for work and do your best. Life can overburden us at times. Chin up.

Well OK, you can blow off steam. That's a good thing.

But when are you going to add maple walnut to your line-up of ice cream flavors?

They are taking over administration of all DOD clinics and hospitals...not just limited to the Navy.

If you want to hurt the Federal government, don’t waste your time screwing with federal employees. Starve the beast. Stop paying taxes. If you want to stop paying taxes without going to jail, you kinda have to stop earning income.

I tried that for a while. I didn't file a tax return for 3 years. It wasn't any fun.
Once the IRS has you in its sights you aren't going to have a good time. You can't win.

Did you make the mistake of failing to stop making income before you stopped paying taxes? The last sentence above covers that part.

It has been a long time and I honestly don’t remember if I ever failed to file a return, but my understanding is that if you don’t owe any taxes it is much less of a big deal to not file a return. If you owe taxes and fail to pay them, that kinda tends to get the IRS’s dander up...

The IRS does not get upset. They just pile on interest and penalties ad infinitum.

Boycott Federal employees as customers?

I realize it might be hard, but as long as they're going to be profligate, and indolent, we need to push back, aside from folks going John Galt.

(I know a number of very capable folks, who have decided its just not worth it to keep striving, for a sharecropper's percentage.)

If you don't want my money, I'll be happy not to give you any of it. I'm not going to change your mind, and this isn't an effort to try. I'll just throw in my 2 cents. I worked for 42 years for the Social Security Adm. I averaged about 50 hours a week. Every single employee that I worked with who came from private industry to SSA said that they worked much HARDER and under more stress than they ever did in private industry. I worked with lots of vets and was proud of my service. I can say that in my office there were no slackers, because they couldn't be. Yeah, some were better than others, but all of them worked hard. Working in a field office at SSA is kind of like working the check out cash register at WalMart on black Friday. And that's every day. I was threatened, my fellow employees were assaulted, and we regularly dealt with issues like illegal aliens, fugitives and other issues that would I am sure surprise you. Large numbers of my employees were conservative and probably felt the same way as you on a whole host of issues. Do I think that there isn't some useless dead wood in the government. Of course there is. Just not where I worked. I wound up hiring a few transfers from other agencies, but I warned them, things are different here. If you come back late from lunch here, you're signing for leave. It comes out of your vacation time. That's even 15 minutes late because your restaurant service was slow.

What's one of the easiest targets for scorn around. A federal "bureaucrat." That's always been the case and always will be,. I realize that.
