stickman428Actually, a four door truck is one of the most useful things on the planet. Want to go camping? Want to carry lots of stuff? Need to carry 3,4 or 5 people on a surf/camp trip? Do you have 1-2 kids and like having a truck all the reasons people like owning a truck? A four door truck will do all those things wonderfully. 4 door tucks are the anti-SUV and I love them.

This truck has more capability than any other truck available in the US and will be priced more than the T(u)RD PRO...;-)
It will actually be more like the venerable 79 Series Land Cruisers that are used in more remotes part of the world.
When the diesel becomes available in 2020 it will really be a beast AND get respectable mileage.

1967GoatAn extended cab turns off anyone with kids. How come they don't sell very many (if any at all) extended cabs on full sized trucks...not enough of a market.

slabsides45I like the looks, personally. I watched the video, and they will offer it in a diesel, and it will fit up to 37" tires without any modification. I think it'll be a winner. It has a much longer wheelbase, which will hurt it offroading, but it's not made to compete with the 2 door jeeps, it's made to cover a range of duties.
Having said all of the obvious, IF I ever get one, it'll be after they tweak all the issues, then give that more reliable model a few years to be gently driven back and forth to church by some granny for about 3 years, then get it second hand.

I don't have the numbers to quote, but direct observation in my little part of the PNW would yield approximately 60% of all passenger vehicles on the roads daily are some form of 'pick up'....and probably about 75% of that population is a 4 door version, nearly all of which are also 4x4.

I’ll never have a 2 door truck again.
Had a 1989 2 door extended cab never again.
Currently have a 2000 Z71 3 door extended cab never again.
Nothing but 4 4 doors from here on out. So much more useful.
I have hauled cars, pulled down trees, loads of rock, gravel, mulch, wood, farm implements.
No cadillac here.
Give me 4 full doors, 4x4, and a back up camera. That is all I want from the factory.

Pretty sure he said 35s will fit with no lift.
37s take a minor lift.

True, however a lot of people seldom carry one passenger (much less 2 or 3), I'm one of them now even though it's my only vehicle. The back seats in my truck have been folded up since the day I drove it off the lot. The vast majority of families will have a 2nd car or SUV as well anyway. Even back when we were raising two children we found two small cars were usually more useful than one large one since it seemed I was always taking one child somewhere while my wife took the other somewhere else.
I often do wish my 5' bed was a little longer so I'd like FCA to offer (in at least one trim) a two-door extended cab with a longer 6' bed. And don't even bother trying to cram little folding seats in the back. That'd allow plenty of room for storage, tools, camping gear, dog, etc.
With only a 5' bed I hope the aluminum tailgate is extra strong because it will need to be capable of supporting a good bit of bouncing weight because when carrying a motorcycle, ATV, etc the rear wheels will be on the tailgate itself.
Regardless my hat's off to FCA for finally bringing back a real Jeep truck.
No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

HRK4 doors not 2, you can lock stuff in the back seat area if needed, bring more passengers, I wouldn't go back to a two door pickup after having the 4 door cab. Plus my hound likes hanging her head out the rear sliding window when it's open and the whole back area becomes her den...

I'd put an Overland in between Sport S & Rubi ~$38k
Maybe +/- a couple $K.

I hope you are right. But I am guessing add at least 5k to each of those if not more. Especially since in the video he said that it shares very few parts with the JL.
A few years after the craze dies down a bit would love to see a base model out the door for 30k but I don’t see it.

Should've edited...I like the extended cabs but, not the full 4-door models. I own an extended cab Tundra, but the 6.5' bed length is what I like over the 4-door, w/shortened bed. To each their own of course and needs dictate purchase.

I meant an extended cab versus a full 4 door. I dont even know if they make those small extended cab trucks anymore. Liek this...
