It's amazing the lengths some people will go in order to let you know they're "suffering" the government shutdown. I was doing some research on the Grand Staircase Escalante and went to the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) web site. You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless. NRA Benefactor/Patriot Member

That's ridiculous, completely unnecessary, and totally political.

Like we need the BLM anyway, the individual states can do a better job managing land.

So...lemme git dis stait. During the shutdown, someone updated the website to say there would be no more updates? Just leave it alone, that's free. “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

When Tim Kaine was governor of Virginia, we had sort of a shut down. He closed the interstate rest stops and saved BIG BUCKS, what with all of that grass mowing and toilet cleaning and electrical power usage and shit... Well, Kaine is just another lame brain, imported, slimy democraP asshole. Expecting anything of benefit from him is a waste of expectations! Comes from the same commie collection as McAwful. Don't worry. Tomorrow, they'll have an update that says, "Emergency! The federal government is still shut down." Q

Seriously is there any more typical "government" response than to have an update that there won't be updates? Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
I'm surprised they don't send out something on the emergency alert system, just so we'd all notice. Basically, the few people that actually shut anything down get paid days off with deferred paychecks for a day or two (maybe). Since this happened on a weekend followed by the Christmas Holidays, nobody would notice for a week or more if they didn't shout about it. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

You guys missed the pre-shutdown notice, as well as the pre-notice of the pre-shutdown continuation status. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

These are the activities BLM lists as exempt in the event of a lapse in appropriation. I sure am glad the Bureau of Indian Affairs won't be affected. Link There are several groups of employees in the “exempt” category who will continue to report to duty including employees: funded by the Helium Fund; working with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) on the Buy-Back Program; in Alaska working on the administration and regulation of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline; and working on selected energy, minerals, grazing, and other associated permit activities for which the Bureau charges a processing fee.

Funny thing is, when I worked in the federal government, a whole bunch of us had lots of “use or lose” annual leave. This is especially true in the land management agencies. It’s an unwritten rule that you don’t take significant time off during field, fire, tourist season. Because of that, there’s just a skeleton crew working much of December anyway. This is particularly true around Christmas; I’d be curious just what percentage of the federal workforce takes at least two weeks off for Christmas and New Years. They’re calling this a “partial” shutdown. I’m betting you couldn’t tell the difference between this partial shutdown and regular holiday vacation time use. I believe I heard this past week that fully 87% of the government is funded. If that’s true, there’s a lot more than 13% of the workforce off anyway. _______________________________________________________ despite them
