Florida: Why/when/if to REJECT uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance?
The only time in my life I needed UI it paid.... a total of $0.
Because in Tennessee, unless it has changed,
you have to catch and ID the offending driver.

He drove away... was never cought, no pay out.

Some people spread happiness wherever they go… some whenever they go.

As Richard C stated-

In Florida UM/UIM only covers medical bills not your vehicle. As long as you and anybody in your car has health insurance there is no need for it. My agent is the one who advised me on it.

My Mother was hit in the rear of her 68 Mustang in 2013. The offender was uninsured, unlicensed, drunk, and had a kid in the car. Between the courts, doctors, GEHA and medicare, Mothers insurance, it was several years of hassle. Mother's uninsured coverage did work, but I hassled separate Farmers people on car (totaled)value/coverage, medical, medicare, and pain and suffering. Nightmares on each one. In the end though, it was finally a fair outcome. But the injuries Mother got began a rapid decline in health. She just passed 2 months ago at 100.
