Not keeping up on your finances ain't the banks' or CC companies' fault. The one time in recent memory I came close to bouncing a payment from a checking account for which I don't have overdraft protection, the bank emailed me and gave me 24 hrs to make a deposit, which I promptly did. My main account has overdraft protection in an amount greater than any payment I ever make. But I keep on top of my balances just about every day and all my credit cards send me an email a few days before the autopay drafts. So I have time to beef up the balance if I need to.

"There will be no recession!"

"There will be no recession!"

Methinks thou protesteth too much!

Follow the money. Lenders are trying to protect themselves from the consequences of the impending recession (customers not being able to pay, interest rates sky-rocketing, currency devaluation, etc.)

Hold on tight folks, it's going to be quite a ride!

Dis cover card has raised mine twice and decreased mine twice in 26 years without my knowledge or consent.

And raised it twice upon my request .

And no one with a phone to the outside world can discuss any type of explanation.

Same here. I use it all the time, but pay it off monthly. They lowered my limit over 5k!

Reason they gave was I've never come close to using up to my limit. So what, I have cancelled all other cards and haven't signed up for any new ones due to the decent credit limit on my Citicard. It's my "emergency" card, i.e roof goes, rv blows up etc. That's why I liked the high limit, i thought of it as insurance. I've thought about calling to try and keep the high limit.

Both Chase and Discover have lowered my credit line per card by ~$1k in the last month or so. Pretty sure they can do that whenever they want if you read over their terms of service.

They did the same to me a few years back.

I print a little sticky label and put it on my cards now with the MM/YY that I used it last. I try to take each card out for a little fun run once a year.

The age of my credit card accounts are all now highly beneficial to me, so it's worth the hassle for me to ensure that cards don't get closed unintentionally.

(I don't put recurring charges on random cards because a) that's a good way to lose track of recurring charges; b) it's even more a hassle to update expiring cards in multiple places at different times of the year due to different expiry dates; c) I optimize spend on the cards with the most cash back.)
