Bent but not broken |
I've had an Apple watch for the past four years and have gotten used to easily looking at my wrist for notifications. I do have an Apple phone but may at some point switch over to Android so I'm looking for something compatible with both. I would buy Apple again but both the price tag and the fact that everything Apple simply slows down with age is steering me away from them. Suggestions?

Everything slows down with age--Apple, Android, MS-Windows, Linux--all of it. Operating systems and apps get bigger, add performance and features. All that takes CPU cycles, memory, and power. I have no alternative to recommend. I've a Series 1, Gen. 2 Apple Watch and it's still working fine--as was my five-year-old iPhone 6S before I upgraded to an SE (2020). The only reason I'll upgrade the watch to a Series 5, later this year, will too be to get the increased feature set. Same reason I upgraded the phone. Good luck with your search, but I don't think you're going to find anything that will match, much less beat, Apple in this arena. "America is at that awkward stage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding you get full functionality from a Samsung watch only if paired with a Samsung phone, just like an Apple watch? FWIW: I had an Asus ZenWatch when I was still on Android. It wasn't a pimple on my Apple Watche's backside. "America is at that awkward stage. My Apple Watch (4th gen) and iphone 11 interface soooo well, I cant imagine changing. If I take a photo on my phone, it also shows up on my iPads and MacBook Pro. I can send stuff thru my Apple TV onto my TV. It all just works - always. Just my opinion. My current Samsung Smartwatch is my first real smart watch. Also have a Skagen hybrid. It works fine with my Huawei phone. Maybe there are Samsung specific apps for other Samsung devices but i've never needed one. I'm quite happy with it, it's last year model. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

Realistically, if you've had an Apple watch for a while and liked it, I doubt you'll find much on the Android side that can match its capabilities. Apple has pretty much set the standard for smart watches. Oh, and Android's WearOS blows when it comes to battery life, maybe its biggest weakness. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. I have a Suunto Spartan Trainer HR. Though they have a number of models based upon your needs. I had an Apple Watch for a bit and hated it. I like my Suunto a lot. Another huge plus is many are not made in China anymore. I am not 100% positive but I am pretty sure all the new models are made in Finland. My Spartan was made in China but pretty sure all production has moved to Finland. I know the 5 and 9 Baro are made in Finland for sure. Not sure of any other smart watches not made in China. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I have limited knowledge. But I received a Fitbit watch for Christmas 2 years ago. I truly enjoyed it with steps, pulse, sleep patterns, etc. At 13 months it died. I tried everything, It’s just dead. So I’m done with that Brand. 12 months is not worthy of the cost. So my advice would be to stay with Apple. I had a Samsung phone at that time, thus the Fitbit. If I decide to go that route again it will be an Apple product as my phone is now an I-phone. -------------------------------------------------------2/28/2015 ~ Rest in peace Dad. Lt Commander E.G.E. I am running a Garmin Fenix 5x which was an upgrade from the Garmin Vivoactive 3 which I gave to my wife when I upgraded. I charge it once a week or so. __________________________ More blessed than I deserve. http://davesphotography7055.zenfolio.com/f238091154
