Why so much hate for the article? I heard that with the new pistol you can curve the bullets around corners by swinging your arms.....It's true, I saw it in the movies!

ScooterXMakes perfect sense to me. Now I COMPLETELY understand why Glock lost the bid.

BB61So, according to the article, if I buy an M17 I will be as good as Wyatt Earp and Bruce Gray all rolled into one — without any practie. Any other gun, not so much.

Exactly what I was thinking. They are a lot harder to shoot off hand though you will have to admit that.

FredwardThe article sounds like it came straight out of Guns 'n' Ammo. The idea of arming more troops, preferably ALL troops, ALL the time, is a good one. I hope it is followed up with training. I believe there have been too many attacks from "allies" in stand down areas. A pistol with combat load should be required to get out of your rack.

Mars_AttacksIf you arm EVERYBODY with them, then you might find one that works.

ARmanI sure hope that they don't drop them, all that power would be dangerous for our troops.

ggileI'm concerned that the 'powers that be' who make the decisions to buy, really believe that crap.

Thank God I'm not the only one to think so.
Did a Sig rep really peddle that crap to the Army? Heck of a salesman there.

I sure hope so. Maybe then they'll commit to some actual pistol training and ammo...
I've spent over 20 years in the Army with 2x GWOT deployments. Been issued pistols off and on since the early 90s and never received any training in how to shoot one (on duty) and probably only fired under 500 issued rounds in all that time combined.
Only time I saw a soldier get a decent class on how to shoot a handgun, was when I was giving it, and I have to fight for 45mins-to an hour out of the schedule to do it (I've never gotten more time than that.)

2BobTannerThe opening paragraph said this was for “the services’ new high-tech 9mm pistol engineered to give
dismounted infantry” the ability to fight in close quarters. Well, what about “mounted infantry”, what do they get to use—horseshoes?

striker1I don’t fault the writer. Most of the stupid quotes are from military personnel. SIG marketing what it is, it’s obvious that the Army has swallowed the Kool-Aid by the barrel-full.
The 320/M17/18 platform is good and will continue to improve/prove itself. Perhaps the Army will be able to effectively train those issued to use the pistol properly.
