Been an interesting Post - I am a X10 user for years - I am in need of a CM15A ActiveHome Pro USB Transceiver. https://www.x10.com/collection...roducts/cm15a-module Anyone have one willing to let go. Thanks

It would appear they have. That was one of the several factors that precipitated our move from Android to Apple.
Once I get Siri to start listening, either with "Hey Siri" or a button press, it gets it right 99 times out of 100. It's raising the Watch and having it recognize "Hey Siri" that's wildly erratic. E.g.: Worked nine out of ten times on my Watch last night, after I set it up again. This morning it's completely ignoring me on the Watch. On my iPhone "Hey Siri" is dependable.
I'm pretty sure I looked at that. I wasn't really interested in majorly geeking out on home automation "America is at that awkward stage. There is also OpenHAB. But if you are looking for plug&play, neither it nor Home Assistant are likely what you are looking for. Though between the two, I think Home Assistant is the easier option.

I am running Hubitat with Hoobs on a Docker container that is running on my NAS. It can tie into my Hue hub that I had already and gives me automation access through a number of interfaces (Hubitat, Apple Home, Eve, ...). I wasn't aware of OpenHAB, but it looks similar in nature to the Hubitat. The Hubitat allows you to interface to both Z-wave and Zigbee devices and there is no dependence on the cloud (i.e. if your internet service goes down, you can still control your devices). Automation programming is extensive, but more complicated than the regular "app stuff". -Loungechair

Yeah, when I thought I wanted to stick with X-10 as long as I could, put Casèta only where X-10 was a complete fail, then slowly migrate to Casèta from there, I was giving OpenHAB a strong look.
Which is why I went the way I did. One of my best friends passed away a few years ago. He put in a massively interconnected, complicated HA system. To this day we're still not certain of all he did. What I do know is he left his widow with something she had not a hope in hell of understanding, much less maintaining--even if she had the requisite passwords for access. Piece-by-piece it's all getting replaced. The Insteon stuff may end up being the only thing not replaced. That's still up in the air. I used to rely on this friend for counsel. Ironically, in his passing, he inadvertently counseled me one last time: Not to leave my wife in such a position. So, yeah: These days I'm going for plug-n-play to the extent possible.
