I have an opportunity, but it would be in Braidwood, IL.

We all know that Chicago is bad, but...

Thank you for the input.

Ed

Can't recommend any place to live in Illinois. Sorry.

Not a bad area. More rural than anything, which is good in my opinion. This State sucks in general but better and better the further away from Chicago you get. I service a power plant there.

You'll find that part of Illinois is very different from the Chicagoland area. Good news is that you are far from Chicago. Bad news is that you're not far away enough from Joliet, which I've always found to be a dump.

Many years ago we built swimming pools out in that area. It was quiet then but that was 10-11 years ago.

Just beware that Chicago drives the politics of the state for the most part.

Yeah, this is very important. Even now, with Trump as our President, the liberal onslaught continues here, and it looks like the Progs are winning for the moment.

I'd strongly urge you to avoid Illinois at all costs.

caneau is spot on. While Chicago is the black hole, the rest of the state is governed by Democrats who are just as bad.

In fact, just today the Tribune had two editorials blasting state legislators for continuing to dig rather than try to get out of the fiscal hole they've created.

Editorial: Don't dare applaud Illinois lawmakers

Two credit rating agencies, Standard & Poor's and Moody's Investors Service, slapped Illinois with downgrades Thursday, hours after lawmakers blew off a budget deadline. Illinois now holds the distinction of having the lowest credit rating ever assigned to a U.S. state.

Editorial: Lawmakers demonstrate once again why Illinois is getting poached

While Illinois legislators fumble repeated attempts to send a balanced budget to Gov. Bruce Rauner; while the stack of Illinois' unpaid bills climbs by the minute; while our leaders prioritize politics over policy; you, Gov. Reynolds, and our other gubernatorial neighbors will continue to cash in on our dysfunction. Employers and other taxpayers are hopping over Illinois' borders with alarming regularity.

These were my thoughts as well, I just needed confirmation since I have never actually lived there nor spent much time there.

Thanks for the input. Ed
