Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. |
The inevitable happened. The glass shattered. How much should I expect to pay for glass replacement? Apple store? Kiosk in the mall? The corner computer guy?

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
If I lived close to an Apple store I'd probably do it there. I don't so I checked around to find a place with good reviews for their service. Seems to work fine. Just check the operation of the various buttons and fingerprint pad when they finish. Some of the connections can be tricky from what I've read. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Well, all I can tell you is that my wife had a cracked screen on her iPhone 7 and took it to one of those phone repair kiosks at the mall. It was fixed in the less than 20 mins. She can't quite remember what it cost, but she thinks it was less than $50. What I can tell you is that it was definitely less than $100. Wish I could find the receipt, but I spent the last hour looking and no bueno. Sorry. But the kiosk worked perfectly for her. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

it's not much. btw they'll be replacing the entire screen, as it's a unitized component.

The couple times I’ve tried to have a screen repaired at one of those “budget” centers, I’ve had to bring the devices back multiple times because the screen begins to lift off of the device after a couple of days. Suck it up, make an appointment with the Genius Bar, and let Apple fix it. ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Wait, what? |
The 6/6S is probably the cheapest and easiest of the large screen phones to fix. Closer to $50 than $100 I’d say. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Straight from the horse's mouth, here's the information from Apple's support website. If it were my phone and I wanted to keep it, I would definitely have it fixed by Apple. They will use the correct components and will stand behind their repairs. Third party, maybe, maybe not. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

As others have said you can't replace just the "glass" on an iphone. The screen and digitizer (magic part that controls touch screen) are a single assembly. You can get a kit on Amazon for the 6s for around $36, that would be the cheapest option. Comes with everything you need to take the phone apart and includes the whole screen assembly. The downside: Apple only provides OEM touch screens to authorized dealers and repair locations, so what you get online and I would assume from a mall kiosk is not an official Apple part. The first kit I installed in my 6s had a noticeable delay when scrolling, gave me a headache, and also the colors were slightly off. I got a new one for free after contacting the seller and the new one was much better but you can still tell it's not quite as good as the original. So if you have an authorized Apple location near you I would go that route, buy once cry once. If it's a long distance or you really need to save a few bucks the independent repair shop would be next. And if you're super cheap (like me) and just enjoy taking things apart you can save a lot by doing it yourself, just know you're not getting an OEM quality part. If you want it done by Apple and there's no Apple place near you, check the web page that I linked above. You can use that web page to contact Apple support, and arrange to send it to them for repair. I did that with an Apple watch. It was a smooth, trouble-free, and painless operation. They know what they're doing, they have done it thousands of times. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I met a fellow in the Apple Store yesterday who had his screen replaced at one of the strip mall repair shops. Sure, it was cheap, but three days later he had dead spots on his screen, and was in the Apple Store to get a new phone. The place that “fixed” it said not their fault, the screen was good, it was “something else”. If the phone is worth keeping, Apple is your best bet. ------------------- "Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered his last round.

I’d go to Apple or an Apple authorized repair shop. Apple costs $130-$170 depending on model. Authorized shops set their own prices. Non authorized shops will be less expensive but you might get what you pay for.

Back in October my wife had a brand new iPhone X. Fell out if her pocket and landed glass down in a parking lot. Screen shattered. I think it was about $280 to have it replaced at the Apple store. It came with a warranty on the new screen and digitizer. It’s been flawless and looked as perfect as it did prior to the breakage. The “lol” thread

Thank you Very little |
Amazon has a home service Iphone repair that comes to your home or office, starts at $80 https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=14583528011 I had mine done at one of the local youbreakifixyourI stores, they screwed up the button, it no longer allowed me to get into the phone, the store took it to apple and paid apple to fix what they screwed up. Not saying they cant do it, and the 6 doesn't have the ID fingerprint button. Call around, check for coupons and discounts with the ifixyourstuff stores.
