BeancookerMattress replacement 101 crash course
We picked up a new bed a month and a half ago. Into the 120 day trial and we are going back.
Taking the plunge and getting the Beautyrest Platinum 3x pillowtop.
It’s twice the price of what we bought, but it’s pretty damn amazing.

P210My back is wrecked and I recently replaced my innerspring type with a Tempurpedic Firm LUXEbreeze and Ergo adjustable frame. I’ve had a Tempurpedic and adjustable frame in NY for 20 years and it’s still comfortable, but I was always afraid one would be too hot in this climate. They’ve somehow figured out how to make this one sleep cool though, and it’s incredibly comfortable, so I’m happy with it and will get over the price eventually.

You said you stayed in a hotel and the bed was better. Did you look at the mattress tag? Perhaps that would be a start. I know in the States that they offer mattresses with the upscale hotel moniker on them. I do not know if they are better. I am in the market for a new mattress so I will be following this thread. The general advice is to not go cheap on mattresses or shoes.
I am with ZMichael here. Good shoes and a good mattress if you don't want your back to hurt.
I payed more than I wanted but I am happy for 5 years now with a higher end Sealy Posturepedic hybrid (some springs and memory foam on top).
The one thing I know to do for sure, is if you are deciding between two mattresses get the firmer one. Soft or plush mattresses feel good for a few minutes in the store, but after sleeping all night on them my back hurts.

dan03833We recently purchased a new mattress. The motion base made a world of difference. The ability to adjust head and feet height has helped a lot. As for the mattress, it's a Sealy, middle of the road in cost. Firm with memory foam layers in different densities. Six months in, so far so good. Took some time to get adjusted for optimum comfort. 0 G setting helps with my back pain.

BeancookerAgreed. We cot the motion perfect with massage. I didn’t think a base would make that big of a difference. It’s pretty nice.
