Clear back in the 1900's, I lived and worked in Phoenix and Mesa.

They used to offer balloon ascension rides on the north side.

I saw nine of them go straight up and pretty much straight back down, ( most of the time).

Am wondering if they still do that ?
Do you ever see them.

I don't think they as far north as the shooting range.

They still have hot air ballon rides, quite a lot, actually. And they do launch them from as far North as the gun range, most farther north.

launch depends where the wind will take them for recovery!!

Yes the take off/land anywhere from Jomax up to Carefree Hwy, but those areas are getting built up so not sure how much longer they have in those areas.
