henryaz My doc uses Miralax. It works extremely well and is practically tasteless (a bit salty). The only problem is the quantity you have to get down.

IronbuttI'm a retired nurse, and the bowel prep for colonoscopies is nothing compared to how it used to be. Trust me.

Mrs.BurtonRW, RN, was in a hospital for 13+ years and now works at an outpatient endoscopy clinic. She would agree wholeheartedly!
She also says to just man up and deal with it. Colonoscopies are important and save many lives.

ugeestaI had to go thru the prep a couple weeks back.
This time is was a total of 24 pills to take. 12 the evening before and 12 the morning of the colonoscopy. So,
Evening prior: 1 pill with 16 oz of water every 15-20 minutes and another 16 oz of water 30 & 60 minutes after the last pill.
Morning of: Same as above but I had to be done with the water 2 hours before the procedure.
My procedure was at 8:00am so I had to start the morning pills at 2:00am to make sure I was done with the water consumption on time.
Not fun.

irreverentReally, mine was a piece of cake. Followed the instructions given, stayed by the toilet, and it really was easy peasy. No fuss no muss. Ill have to be back in 7 yrs though, they did find a couple polyps. I think it must’ve gotten easier, because it genuinely was much ado about nothing. Just follow the instructions, don’t eat what they say not to, and you’re good.

architectI had one scheduled for last Tues (my first ever at age 72). The doc had me marked "urgent" as I've been having some issues in that area for a while now. I went through the DulcoLAX/MiraLAX prep., and was rejected for the procedure because I was still spewing liquid poop, they wanted it clear. So obviously my shit isn't good enough, does one have to get to OT3 to get their ass probed?
I am sure that the reschedule will put me on the "extended prep regimen" with all of the pleasantries reported in this thread, oh boy!

If you think that was "not fun", you should try it the other way.
My wife's last colonoscopy she did this. Nothing nasty at all. Just pills and lots of water.

Just had one done a little over a week ago. This was my third proceedure, but my first using Clenpic. Clenpic was, by far, the best tasting prep stuff.

NMPinNYCWhatever it is, I do, drink lots of ick, I drink it. Not so much ick, I drink that as well. Important things are to dab, not wipe, with moist baby butt wipes. Don't flush those. And - enjoy the great sleep afforded by the anesthesia.

drill sgtNecessary evil... just hold the nose and get it down quickly and once it takes effect then do not stray too far from the toilet facilities... Yes it might be considered nasty but just consider it a necessary evil and hopefully nothing found or getting a heads up by catching possible problems in the early stages. .............................. drill sgt.

That said, at this point, I am looking for answers and a cure and if it takes this, so be it.
I've had two colonoscopies previously, old folks maintenance, no problems found, so not my first rodeo.
Still, the prep is not optimal.
