My wife saw this tree last week while visiting California and would like to know what tree it is. I have searched and tried even image searches and I can’t seem to find what this tree is called. So I now call upon SigForum to see if this can be solved. NRA Benefactor Life Member

A Cajeput tree, or tea tree.... not 100% . But that's my guess. Native to Australia, it's an invasive species in Florida. It was brought here as an ornamental tree and to control erosion in the swamps. ARman

Cajeput tree is the common name for it, if that's what it is. I'm no expert, but that is what it looks like to me. In North America, the common name is tea tree or paperbark or punk tree. ARman

Ugly or weird looking, the oil from that tree is some pretty amazing stuff. I put a tea tree oil based ointment on cuts and scrapes and they heal super fast.

I have used a Tea Tree Oil many times, which is amazing stuff, so it is cool to learn it comes from this tree. NRA Benefactor Life Member
