How old is your MacBook?
I own a late 2103 15"MacBook Pro Retina and as recently it had been a bit slower than usual. In my search to help speed it up I came across this Youtube video that had up to 10 easy well thought out tips for increasing my MacBook speed. I have loaded Clean My Mac 3 loaded on my MacBook and use it on occasion as well as cleaning out browser history and the cache once in awhile. This guy has some step by step instructions that helped my MacBook perform a notch or two better...

I have 2. The one I use daily is a 2012 that I connected to a monitor and use as a desktop machine.

I also have one that is also 2012. I’ve replaced the harddrive and use it to stream my iTunes library and to backup our files and photos.

I have a Pro I purchased in 2009! It's had the display replaced under warranty and I installed a SSD, upgraded the ram, and replaced the battery over the course of its life. It still runs fine but I upgraded to a new Pro last spring.

Mine is a 2012 512 gb SSD, 16 gb memory.
Bought it 4-19-19. So far it has been flawless!

2016. Runs exactly the way it did when I bought it - despite a fair amount of abuse.

2011 MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz i7. I need to get an SSD & upgrade to max RAM.

My other Mac is a 2008 8 Core 2.8 GHz MacPro with 32 GB RAM, 1 GB Radeon HD 5770, total 9 TB hard drives, 500 GB SSD on an PCI-E card (startup disk), & a USB 3.1 PCI-E card.

I refurbished an aluminum unibody 13" MacBook with SD drive, new battery, and new power supply. It is a 12-year old classic with a heavy duty keyboard. My brother's kids got through virus-inspired home schooling with it. A very cool classic but heavy.

I just replaced mine. It was 9 years old. Of course, it was replaced with another MacBook Pro.

2010 MacBook Pro 15", on its 4th HD (SSD this time)
This thing has been beat to hell on at least 15 different ships and flown who knows how many times around the world. The OS is not upgradable any longer so it may be getting replaced this year.

My wife and I had 2008 MacBook Pros and they finally got so slow and un-upgradable that we replaced them in 2018 with two new ones that run great.

We both thought that we got more than our money's worth out of the 2008 machines, but I will say that the SS drives beat the heck out of the spinners.

Mine is a 2012 model, I also put in a SSD and 16gb of ram, and it keeps on ticking.
