PASigAnyone Else’s Grass Already Starting To Go Brown?
My poor grass, after an absolutely brutal summer last year when we went like 6-7 weeks without a drop of rain, I was trying to baby it and get it recovering for this year but now we are into 3+ weeks of zero rain and none in sight for a while and it’s already starting to shut down.
Anyone else seeing this? I’m in SE Pennsylvania, Berks Co
I really hope we can get some rain soon!

thumperfbcIt blows my mind that some places can get by without sprinkler systems!
Hopefully you get some rain soon!

IronbuttI'm in Central PA & we're about 4" behind in rainfall so far already this year. I just noticed today that the grass is starting to get brown.

wingfootSeems like we've been getting rain every week since winter, I'm ready for it to dry out, I like playing golf and it is really cutting into my rounds this year.

tatortoddNo. Even the slackers' lawns are green.
We had a 9 day period where we got 12-3/8" of rain. Didn't rain for about a week and then got a 1/4" yesterday.

dsietsI don't have a sprinkler system so I mow my lawn a bit higher than my neighbors who try for a golf putting green.
The longer the grass, the longer the root system.
But yeah, the trees and plants are going to need water soon.

WaterburyBobWe're OK a little northeast of you. Grass is nice and green everywhere here.
I also mow my lawn high compared to most and never use a sprinkler.

MRMATTI'm just down the road a bit in Sanatoga and had to mow again today. Still green.

MikeinNCMy sprinklers haven turned on yet this season, but it’s rained almost every other day here in Central Texas.
It’ll stop raining soon as. Only yards with systems will have green grass

BytesUtah was in a drought big time the last 3+ years. We let our yard go because the area was really low on water. Very brown by mid July and looked dead as hell by August. Last winter we had a record snow fall. This spring it has come back almost 100% without putting any water on it. It is a bit weedy but nothing a good weed treatment won't cure. Other than the look this summer I wouldn't worry to much about it not coming back. It does suck for the kids.

P250UA5Finally mowed for the first time this season, we'll see how it looks in a week.
Still need to get my sprinklers running & see what is broken after the pool installation. Then comes sod for the destroyed bits that are just sand/dirt now.

1967GoatI mowed my grass for the first time this year yesterday. Due to my altitude I only have to mow it 3 - 5 times per year. I have 2.5 acres, so I am glad for the limited number of times I have to mow. I hate mowing and taking care of the grass.

pace40That's why I leave the weeds in the lawn. When the grass gets drought stressed, at least I still have some green.
Yea, yea, that's it.

TheBullSame here in Eastern PA (Monroe Co). Lawn got scorched last summer/fall. It's browning as my re-seeded dead spots start to grow. I mow at the highest setting once per week. I'm going to have to start the sprinklers.

jhe888We've had tons of rain, and I fertilized generously this spring, so my grass is looking pretty good. The St. Augustine grass (you Yankees would think is was a kind of crab grass) is doing well enough to be choking out some of the usual weeds that pop up in a Texas lawn.

oddballEach winter, our St Augustine goes dormant (brown), and starts to revive itself in April. Pretty decent rain recently, the grass is look pretty good, just did the Scotts Turfbuilder Weed & Feed, and have mowed it 3 times in the last 6 weeks. I am having some Bermuda encroach into the lawn, not a deal breaker, usually the St Augustine chokes most of it out.

bald1Brown? Not here for a change. Everything is nice and green.
We're actually ahead of the curve on rainfall and the drought monitor keeps ratcheting lower each Thursday when published.

Bald1 is spring creek running this year for the last 4 yrs it’s been dry?
As for my lawn we have had a wet spring the last four days and for at least five more we it looks like a dry spell. I am mowing every 5-6 days.
