Today was definitely a learning experience for our daughter. She shot the 2018 JOAD Indoor Nationals in San Diego this afternoon. Not a good performance, well below her average including a miss during the first round. Her goal for the tournament was a top 10 finish, she may not have even finished in the top 50%.

She's not happy with her performance. From what I could see today she was lacking focus. We had a short talk tonight. I've told her that I've never come down on her for her scores and never will. All I ask is that she shoots her best. She agreed that she didn't do that today. I ended the conversation with one question that I told her to think about tonight and give me an answer in the morning; what are you going to do to shoot your best tomorrow?

Tomorrow is the start of US Indoor Nationals for her. It's a 2 day tournament with much more prestige than the Junior Olympic Indoor Nationals she shot today. We'll see how she processes what happened today and what improvements she can make tomorrow.

Archery can be brutal in the lessons that it teaches us about ourselves. We'll see what lessons she takes home from today.

You think it’s some hangover from the issues she had at the last tournament still?

No matter how she shoots this weekend she has a few thousand fans here on SigForum cheering her on. Good luck to her tomorrow!

Thanks I appreciate it. I don't think it's a Vegas hangover. I've got a few ideas but I want to have an honest conversation with her and get her take on it all without interjecting my opinions.

Maybe just wasn't into this session and was looking forward to the next day already? Dunno...
I've shot matches where I was laser focused and some just going through the motions, it showed in the scores.

Come on Maya, bear down girl!! Smile

Ouch, with all sectionals complete, 41st out of 80 in her division.
