Heh Heh. I've been battling ageism since I was born. It is a steady very predictable slope. Smile

To me at least, a big part of being attractive is taking care of oneself. All of us are born with different assets and liabilities. While Hollywood may be about what are born with (or what you were born with looks like after a lot of work has been done), I’m more interested in what folks have done with what they’ve got. No question that Paulina got a head start as far as what she was born with, but it is beyond question that she has been taking care of herself and has stayed fit. Good for her. Even better for her that she clearly has a head on her shoulders which is not just a hat rack or a home for a pretty face.

I'm one year older than Paulina so I'm there as well. I didn't read it as a humble piece but a "whoa is me I'm older and not getting the attention like the younger girls are but wait someone did pay me some attention and yay I'm in the swimsuit edition albeit as a token nod to inclusivity for its own sake but I've still got it so there" piece.

If she's done other things that haven't been based on her looks that's great. She should be talking about that rather than sharing her nightmares about not getting attention because of her age, but she's not.

Yes, we all get older. Yes, if you're trying to get the same attention with your looks that you did in your 20's you're setting yourself up for failure. Yes, she looks good for her age but so what. I read it as a whiny bit a pap and nothing more. YMMV.

Correct me if I am wrong but, besides SI making her famous in her younger years, wasn’t she also the clerk helping Clark W. Griswold in Christmas Vacation? And then visiting him in his pool dream later in the movie?

A lot of guys my age read the SI Swimsuit issue and thought about what an awesome date/girl/wife she would make. I can tell you for one, that hasn't changed a bit Big Grin

Although I would bet if she was bumped 40 years ago from a prime spot by a 54 year old woman, she would have had a fit.

That was Nicolette Scorsese as Mary (lingerie salesgirl) in 1989.
No relation to the director Martin Scorsese, the model-turned-actress played Clark Griswold’s fantasy girl, after she helps him with some holiday shopping. Smoking hot in that film.

Growing up, she was my favorite model. I believe at 1 time in the 90's she was the highest paid model in the world. I believe it was when she was under contract with Estée Lauder.

I'm sure she's still naturally beautiful but I can also assure you that she is heavily Photoshopped. That's a big part of my job.

If every single piece of food gets color corrected and retouched you can be sure every model does.

Paulina Porizkova, 1984 and 1985

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown
