Everyday walking shoe recommendations?
A little different style, but a great shoe, New Balance 928v3.

I just replaced a pair after four and a half years of not daily, but at least 2-3 days a week of wear. Funny thing is my original pair are still going strong! No separation of sole to upper, still lots of tread although a little of an angle to the sole (due to me, not the shoe). This is amazing to me since I seem to be pretty rough on shoes and normal daily wear shoes usually are ready for the trash at about 18 months.

Replaced for two reasons, great shoe if not the best I have found and wanted another pair in case they get discontinued, and just getting a little to “worn” looking for work.

Still wear my original pair on weekends or when just bumming around. Originally purchased on Amazon 8/2015 but seems they never have the leather version in my size. Almost bought something else but found out there is a New Balance store nearby that had them in stock so I bought two pairs, brown and black. A little pricy at $140 or so a pair, but they gave me a 15% veteran discount. With 2 new pairs and my old ones still going I should be good for the next 10 years!

Leather upper, brown or black. Great support, come in different widths (including narrow)

FWIW - SAS walking shoes are nice for me. They have a wide fit available in some models. My foot is very wide.

Before I retired, my job required me to wear safety toe leather work boots, thanks to the collective bargaining agreement the company set aside X amount of money per CBA (3 year contracts). By buying two pairs of the same work boots and switching back and forth everyday, I found the boots lasted much longer, and my feet were healthier to boot (pun intended). I too believe wearing a different pair of shoes everyday is a very good idea. I continue this practice in retirement with regular shoes.

Another New Balance fan here but mostly because they offer EE and 4E in most of their shoes. My wide feet keep me from trying others but the New Balance Abzorbz foam has treated me well.

Narrow size 10 wearer that gives a +100 for Salomon. Merrel's are nice too as I have 2 different pair, but Salomon just feel better on my feet. I haven't tried the New Balance yet, but the Made in USA 990v5's are my next pair of shoes.

New Balance (higher the number the better the shoe)

I like NIKE, but New Balances are very good too.

THEY STILL SELL THE OP's SHOES, just under the Basspro redhead brand now. Since Basspro owns Cabela's it's technically the same company since basspro bought Cabela's. Do you and VTAIL research anything you comment on?

Do these look familiar:RedHead X4 Adventure II Waterproof Walking Shoes for Men (SAME SHOE).

I've been wearing Salomon low tops for duty shoes for a while now. Wish I had not waited so long to try them.

I usually try to ignore when everyone beats up on you, but maybe if you had included that helpful tidbit in your original post it would have been better received...

I have a wide blocky shaped foot with a high arch. I also wear perscription orthotics. I'm have a pair of Lowa Renegade hiking boots and it's the best boot I've ever worn. The downside is it's also an expensive boot at arount $250, but they are also over a year old and don't seem to be loosing any support. I also have a pair of Merrel MOAB II high boots. The Merrel's are half the price and almost as good. I got away from the original MOAB because it broke down too quickly and didn't offer enough lateral stability. The MOAB II is a different boot and appears to be much better in the stiffness department without affecting the feel of the footbed.

Yes, sir.

I believe it can be compared to rotating the tires on your vehicle. I do the same thing with my work boots. Both are Red Wing steel toe. Also do the same to my gym shoes but with 3 pairs instead of 2.

I walk a lot on manufacturing plant floors and have for 40yrs now. I tried many different shoes, but this is the best I have found. I now have 3 pairs that I rotate. A little pricey but worth every penny.
