Saw your "Shelby" avatar and I'm curious as to what you have.

I'm building a 1965 Daytona Coupe and I also have a 2009 GT500KR in Vista Blue.

If you're a member over at the Shelby forum, I probably bumped into you.

Can't wait for pics! Cool

Don't forget to post details such as the kit manufacturer, chassis info, etc.

I'm hoping you're installing an appropriate small block Ford motor like the original had!

newtoSig, the coupe is a Shell Valley body on a custom tubular built frame. The engine will be a 302 punched out to 347 and will remain naturally aspirated. I figure I could get 425hp out of it which will be plenty for a car that weighs somewhere around 2500lbs.

Mine started as a 2012 Mustang GT. In May of 2012, and with 1 thousand miles on it, I sent it to Shelby American.

I have moved my old thread out of hiding and it currently will be in The Lounge for a very short time.

Again, mine is a modern Shelby by Shelby American out of Las Vegas.
Mine in not 60s vintage.

The KRs are really good cars. Good for you.
I like the KR wheels, throw us a photo.

Come on man, that has always been one of the best epics ever. Can't you just tag it as "lifetime no trim no archive no nothing other than right here for us to enjoy?!!?"

Members get tired of it and some think it's a show off thing.
I think it best it goes back to where it was and bring it out if something happens that I wish to talk about.

My priorities have changed somewhat and while I really like my Shelby, my illness demands most of my time go to other things in my life.

My brother has agreed to buy it after I am gone, so the car will live on, and that suits me just fine.

At this point, my Shelby only has 15K miles on it. So mechanically, it it still relatively new.

Ok, here's some pics as promised.

2009 GT500KR. Picked it up new when the economy was tanked.

1965 Daytona coupe. It's a rolling chassis and I expect to finish it after I retire. That'll give me something to do.

Sorry some people feel that way but there's not much you can do about that. Some people have boats, some have airplanes. I wish I could have both but I can't so....the cars will have to do.

Also, I didn't know you were dealing with health issues. Good luck with that and drive that car ! Give it to your brother in well used and worn condition !

There are those lovely KR wheels.

Yeah, I'm terminal. I have a thread on it.

Sorry to hear, I just read through the thread. Seems you have your mind straight on what priorities are most important to you and you're right, the car isn't really one of them.

Striperkid, Can you advise on the blanked rear quarter windows?
One photo shows glass, the other shows blanked in the style of the gas cap, e.g. exposed fasteners.

Jim,

I purchased aluminum covers and removed the rivets. I had a co-worker paint them "body color" and reinstalled the rivets. Those panels simply get attached onto the glass with 3M tape.

Same with the fuel door. I removed the stock door and picked up an aftermarket one and had that painted also.

Any modification I did on the Shelby, can easily be "reversed".

Careful with that 3M tape. Those parts like to come flying off at high speed. Ask me how I know....

Do you belong to the Shelby American forum?

I believe he insinuated that in his OP.

I guess he did, didn't he.
My memory is getting terrible from the cancer treatment these days.

I pretty sure he has seen my thread on that forum.
I go by lbj or IceBlue over there, I forget which.
It's been a year.

Part of the reason I don't drive my Shelby very much are the pains I get on my left side after being in any car more than 20 minutes.
I really have to suck it up when driving to and from the range.

That's a great KR the OP has, no doubt about it.
