mrvmaxGot the ribeyes purchased and ready to go. I am a big fan of Egg Nog and the local HEB brand is the best I have ever had. I will no doubt have a few pints of that before New Year when they stop selling it.

oddballGoing to start shopping tomorrow, and will still buy some things on Thursday morning, our Central Market is open from 8am to 2pm. As with past years, we decided to get smoked turkey and brisket from our local bbq place, which is open on Thanksgiving. I hate cooking turkey, and everyone loads up on the numerous sides anyways. Got some great pinot noirs for wine that day as well. Chocolate Chess pie and Apple for dessert.

Appliance BradFamily gathering is on the 30th as I'm working EMS on Thanksgiving and our youngest, who lives locally is having his in law extended family in from out of state on the 27th.
Fresh locally raised turkey, dressing, smashed taters, cranberry sauce (from a can like God intended), broccoli with cheese sauce and PIE!

trapper189Outside of Cheboygan, MI, there’s a road that splits off US23 called Alpena State HWY. Alpena is pretty far away, I knew the road couldn’t possibly go there, but that begged the question.
It goes to the Michigan’s largest cranberry farm!
Wally’s World: Inside Michigan’s largest cranberry harvestOctober 7, 2015
Some retire to scenic northern Michigan for a simple life of leisure. But at the age of 73, Wally Huggett—rather than playing golf—spends his "retirement" tending the state's largest cranberry farm in a remote section of Cheboygan County.
"Why would I want to do that?" said the patriarch of Michigan Cranberry Company when asked why he's not chasing Titleists around at this stage of his life. "I used to walk around on grass all day long when I had a sod farm in Sanilac County. I know a lot of guys up here who play golf, but I've got no interest in that…

xd45manThe refrigerator is full. No more room. Last night, my wife made a casserole and the leftovers had to go over to Bumpa's (Grandfather) house. I couldn't squeeze a grape into the refrigerator without lubing it up first.
We are already concerned that our trash pickup day is Thursday. We are already sorting the trash into stink and no stink bags. No stink will just have to wait until we catch up.
I'm pumped!

rat2306Thanksgiving dinner will be Saturday with family. Thanksgiving Day I'll be watching the parade, and "Miracle on 34th Street" while munching on Hickory Farms stuff and turkey pot pie will be the main course later.

oddballFinished up a major portion of the shopping in the morning, wasn't too bad with crowds. But later in the day, I drove by the market and there was a line of cars going into the parking lot. Have some other things to get, but were mostly good.

xantomWe had pork tenderloins that needed to be used so that's we're having with Kings ham and cheese sliders. Trying that bacon weave thing on the tenderloins

Going to smoke them tomorrow morning with a green bean casserole underneath to catch the drippings.

chbibcxantom - wow! Just wow! Happy eats!
Here we're doing a traditional Thanksgiving meal, hosting my wife's family. We'll have a little extra though as I plan on grilling some venison backstraps (it's been a good season).

Revolution37Hosting my wife’s family on Thursday and then mine on Sunday. I love cooking so it’s a good time of year for me. Wife’s family is bringing most of the stuff but I’m gonna try a whole duck with a honey balsamic glaze as a new dish. Sunday I’m doing the whole spread with a spatchcock turkey as the main course.
Despite living within 40 minutes of everyone, this is one of 2 days a year where me, both of my brothers, and our parents manage to get together in the same room. I’ve got a little girl turning 3 next month, a niece turning 3 in March, and my wife is due with a son in May so I like to get everyone together for the kids, but it’s nice for me, too.

ibandaHappy Thanksgiving to everyone!
I used to be the one missing holidays as I worked at an airport for so many years. Now our Gen Z in the family are in shift work so we had 4 generations get together last Saturday. I am having Friendsgiving today and will check in on the Cowboys game.

Friends and family are coming to Casa de vthoky today. We’re having double-smoked spiral cut ham, a slow-cooker turkey breast, brown sugar Smokies, maple bacon Brussels sprouts, baked beans, and homemade cranberry sauce. And pumpkin pie.
Calorie counts are not my problem today, and if you go away hungry it’s your own fault.

Happy Thanksgiving, all.

Creeping_DeathHappy Thanksgiving everyone! An Irish Coffee is complementing the start of the day, so a special ‘cheers’ to those who cannot be wherever home is for them.
