Does anyone have a recommendation for a wireless CarPlay adapter? What are some issues I can expect? Are there any delays in touch controls or audio playback?

Help! Help! I'm being repressed! |
I bought a AAWireless adapter and I was happy with how it worked, but my problem with it was that the usb port it plugged into was on 24/7. It works by connecting to the adapter via wifi. So when I'm sitting at home my phone wouldn't switch off of it. It was more trouble than it was worth. If your usb shuts off when the key is off then it would probably work for you.

I use the CarLinkIt 5.0 in my Civic. It works good for the most part. Sometimes it takes 20-30 seconds to connect, sometimes I have to select my phone to connect to in it's menu. Doesn't happen much, only sometimes. I only notice lag when forwarding / reversing through songs. Haven't noticed it using other apps.

I have an earlier version of CarLinKit. This is the latest version: Amazon Link It occasionally cuts out, that seems to be due to a loose USB connection. I'd recommend it. Honda now officially sells an update for my 2018 Accord which I will probably have installed to provide Wireless CarPlay. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Fighting the good fight |
Not CarPlay, but I also use an AAWireless adapter for Android Auto, and am quite happy with it. Especially compared to the Motorola adapter I had been using previously, which was slower to connect, took longer to set up, required frequent reboots (near-weekly), and crapped out completely after only a little over a year. (But to SkullLeader's other point, my car's USB ports turn off about 10 seconds after the car shuts off.) Note that unlike some others, AAWireless adapters do require installing their app on your phone. Honestly, this isn't a bad thing, as it makes setup, troubleshooting, changing settings, and updating much easier than otherwise.

I’ve been using an Ottocast in a Honda Ridgeline for the last couple years and I am pretty thrilled with it. Here are the main issues I’ve experienced. -Every once in a while it might lock up or need to be rebooted (unplugged / replugged). Not super common but it happens. -When you send a text through it using voice it seems to add the words say to in front. I’ve read these adapters tend to add some words like this with voice to text. -While they all Introduce some level of lag due to adding a “middle man” device, at least in my experience, it’s a non issue not really noticeable. Other than those two things it’s been a game changer for me vs having to always plug in. Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

Yeah, that M14 video guy... |
I've been using this one for about a month now and I'm loving it! It has over 1,000 reviews and has a 4.5 star rating. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DC..._fed_asin_title&th=1 It's works just like having my iPhone plugged into the USB port. I'm driving a 2018 FWIW. I bought this 10/21 it needs to be rebooted once or twice a week by unplugging but it could be the car, not the dongle. Once it connects it works great. I have a 2018 Honda Pilot https://www.amazon.com/CarlinK...s%2C102&sr=1-21&th=1 10/21
