Partial dichotomy |
When I was a kid, my mother always used a percolator and I think she bought Eight O'Clock coffee....it's been a long time. As Swedes, I think we were always accused of being coffee snobs/drinkers, but I think my parents were just frugal. It was I who bought the damned Nespresso machine.

His diet consists of black coffee, and sarcasm. |
I haven't seen Hills Bros. for years. Or Chase & Sanborn. They were always low priced.

Kroger house brand, Maxwell House, Folger’s, Hills Bros., the usual suspects we use. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. The Michigan Madman)

Yuban! Brings back memories. In the mid 80's my dad, brother and I were building a cottage on Henderson Bay. We'd go up on weekends and work on it, always stopping at a little diner in Henderson called the Cherry Tree Inn. They had Yuban coffee and I loved it. ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.

Imagination and focus become reality |
My Dad used to drink Stewarts Private Blend. I don't think I've seen it around lately either. Anyway, I am going out tomorrow to see if I can find some Yuban or Stewarts, either the Private Blend or the Colombian.

I generally partake in espresso but would really like to find a coffee that tastes like Gevalia used to taste when it was a subscription only coffee. It slid way down the hill when it became available in stores. Where is Willi Pederson when you really need him... Schnucks stopped carrying it... I don't know why. Dierbergs still has it. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Hills Brothers used to be pretty decent; must have been as the Navy Senior Chief at my first assignment insisted on nothing but that for our coffee mess. Chase and Sanborn is still showing up on Amazon, but I don't see it on shelves often. The Army commissary has one variety of Yuban for sale, but not in K-cup.

Don't remember the brand my parents drank, but I remember the percolator with the little glass thing on top of the lid.

I remember Yuban coffee...wasn't old enough to drink it back then. I've touted Caribou Coffee in the past. I mail-order two Decaf blends...both dark roast. Both are VERY good. French Roast Blend Cross Fox Espresso $14.99 per each 1 lb. bag plus shipping...$34.98 delivered to my door. "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24
