Long story short- son is in the Myrtle Beach area and needs a good divorce lawyer. My wife said “ask your gun buddies” cuz the Forum has the answers. Thanks in advance.

Not to be “that guy”, but divorce lawyers come in two types. Those for the wealthy, and those for people who need a cost effective choice. Durant and Durant do not do divorce work, but they are the lawyers I use in Myrtle Beach, and, IMO, the best ones in the area. I would call and ask for a recommendation.

Also, even if your son can't afford the best lawyer, at least get an appointment to be seen by them so the soon to be ex-wife can't use them herself. I have had a few buddies go through some divorces and it is amazing the tactics used by each side.

Almost no divorces go all the way through the court process to be decided by the judge. Somewhere along the line a mutually agreed settlement is reached. Perhaps more important than the lawyer will be the mediator. Find one very experienced, preferably who had been a divorce lawyer previously. So a good lawyer is one who provides excellent information and guidance to get to a decent out of court agreement quickly, but who is competent if it does go to court. A bad lawyer drags things out to increase billings.
