Just got hearing aids and all I can say is wow. It's utterly amazing how much noise there is out there.

It does, I was at the mall after getting them, I had to pull them out. Now at home, I hear the dogs nails clicking on the floor, even the heat coming on is loud.

I never realized my hearing had gotten this bad.

When it's quiet around here all I hear is the ringing in my ears....

sounds like all that Freedom I shot in the service is coming back to haunt me....

I didn’t realize that I had not heard the birds in quite some time when I got mine.

The tinnitus is one of the things that convinced me to finally get these things.

Until today, I had not realized how bad my hearing had gotten.

One of the first thoughts that I had after getting mine was, "I didn't know peeing could be so LOUD!"

Guess it is a glass half full thang. Smile

I agree with you, these are some beautiful sounds.

I spoke to an audiologist a couple of years ago and was told that hearing aids don't do particularly well with tinnitus. Has the technology improved?

The tinnitus is always there and I think always will be. The aids amp up the ranges you can't hear far enough that you can carry on a conversation.
It ain't perfect though.

I have tinnitus but it isn’t too bad so I ignore it.

My grandfather had two hearing aids, needed them all the time. My grandmother talked all the time. It just didn’t stop. Never. She got real ticked when she figured out he had them turned off most of the time. I though it was pretty funny myself.

They amplify the higher frequencies so that I can hear them again. I was getting to the point i was hearing only low freq stuff and a constant tone. Right now the tone is there, but I don't notice it as much.

This. My wife cannot understand how I can just sit and drive. She has to have noise. In the car it can be the radio or some sort of noise. Then there's the TV. Sadly, she talked my into putting one in the bedroom.
