We had a couple of Grand Cherokees 20 years ago, but I don't know much about the new stuff. We are looking for a used small SUV. I am also thinking about the Equinox, Edge, Sportage, etc.

Absolutely love this one...Just can't really afford it. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. And several dogs, because a man with a cat is a woman. Kurt Schlichter

I have pretty close to what you have pictured, I painted my wheel calipers red because I thought it went better with the grey. It is the "trailhawk" model. 26K, zero problems, 2 recalls for computer reflash/update 5.7 in that car is a good match, plenty of power. I get 26mpg highway at 65mph, 19-20mpg in town, I drive very conservatively. It tows well too, not as well as a ecoboast or a diesel, but adequate. Oil changes are about a 10 minute job It is fun to drive and is a good size, kinda not too big not too small thing. __________________________ Keep your rotor in the green The aircraft in trim Your time over target short Make it count

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Stay away. Buy a more mainstream product. Everyone i know that has owned a Jeep, years ago or recently, has had it end badly. The older ones were a complete piece of crap. The recent ones could still be kept looking nice and operational up to 100K but the cost as they got over 70,000 became unreasonable. I'm sure some still run ok after that but anyone I know has ditched them by then. There are so many better choices in that category. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

I am about to get a Grand Cherokee. My 2008 BMW X5 that I bought new has 61k miles on it, so I don't drive a whole bunch. I'm not worried about getting something that will go for hundreds of thousands of miles. The new Jeep Grand Cherokees have come a long way since the 2004 I had before the Beemer. I just can't justify the $25k (or more) price difference anymore to get another Beemer (or similar "luxury" SUV). With the Summit trim, the JGC is everything I need and I can put the difference in the bank or buy Mrs. CSM a nice gift (or just buy more guns and ammo). The only question is whether to get the 6 cyl or 8 cyl engine.

Huh??? I cant speak for the new ones, but the old model Cherokee was an unkillable machine. That inline 6 engine was a beast, it would last forever. I had a Cherokee and had well over 200K miles with no issues, my sisters Cherokee went 350K miles before she got rid of it. Ive had a 2013 Grand Cherokee for several years now with no problem. Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

I agree completely. I have had 2, a 1986 and the 1996 that I still have. It won't die. I literally have more landings in it than I got in an airplane getting my pilot's license. It is by far the most reliable vehicle I've ever had, and I drive it like I stole it every single time. "The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people." "Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy." "I did," said Ford, "it is." "So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?" "It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want." "You mean they actually vote for the lizards." "Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course." "But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?" "Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."
