I don't mean this accusingly, but out of simple, sincere curiosity: Why?.....(snip).

Mainly because of the Eagles, who I supported in past years (I lived in Philly) while they choked in the play offs.

And while I listen to the SB on radio, I'll be cleaning a few handguns.

Never interested/watched the game. Didn't really care either way.

But now, what has been going on, I damn sure have a reason to NEVER start!

So it wasn't enough that the NFL refused to take a stand, pardon the pun, over Crapernick. It wasn't enough that they refused to call out Michael Bennett over his proven lie of LVPD racial discrimination even when directly asked by the department. Now they have to go and do this? Shameful.

ok I am sure this thread will soon be locked. But I would venture to say that there are 10 guys doing good for every one that isn't. Like Nick foles or the other qb and his coach who opened endorsed our current potus to just name a few. I get it that you do not like the brand for their stupidity.

Let us not be so hypocritical. How many work for our government, their spouse or offspring that so many rail against for one reason or another. Rely on it to the detriment of our greater society. But will not openly admit it here. Just silly.

I know they {nfl] are an easy target. They deserve much of what they get I agree. But to use that broad paint brush to paint all those high paid athletes is easy. But many do not fit the mold some of you so easily try to put them in.

I haven't watched a game this season, looks like I won't be watching a game in the post season either.

I can proudly say I haven’t given a cold hard shit (or a warm soft one for that matter...) about the NFL for years.

Cost is prohibitive, any licensed product is legalized theft, not one to go out of my way to deal with drunken belligerent fools in large crowds, oh, and risk getting my car broken into while parked in the shitty part of town where the stadium is, while being forced to not excercise my right to carry.

Oh, and then the “role models” of overpaid thugs, womanizers and abusers, drug addicts, and serial criminals.

Closest I come to “supporting” the NFL is checking to see if the local team won, and only because my favorite (but overpriced) pizza joint has half-price pizza when they win.

Very sad state of affairs when the masses support multi-million dollar salaries for grown men to play a game while teachers, police, firefighters, and military often have to turn to public assistance or multiple jobs to survive.

Priorities seem just a little fucked up to me...

Got a link? I don't doubt that he did, but I missed it. If there's something in this thread that's over the top compared to times past, I'm missing that as well. Thanks.

Yes, certainly more than a few, and it's very discouraging. On the ship, only one other guy and I (of those who actually used to watch football enthusiastically and regularly) care enough not to support the godawful nfl. The rest are as gung-ho about their precious football as ever. I find it pretty appalling, but at this point I just keep it to myself.

Come on, that's easy why people still support them. For some it's just pure indifference; they don't care about the flag or never before really gave much thought to what it signifies. For others, they simply can't bear to give up something that they enjoy doing and will rationalize any reason not to do so. After all, "it's just a few people kneeling and disrespecting the men and women who died for this country, right? Only a few that the nfl allow on its dime to spit on soldiers' graves. And anyway, what difference does one person not watching make? I might as well keep watching my precious football. Hey, everyone's doing it. And I really love it."

Well, not this guy. I'll continue not to watch. Two complete seasons now I haven't watched, and so far the nfl has given me absolutely no reason to come back.

Until these collective idiots get a clue as to why we stand for the flag and our anthem, I can't be bothered with them...no matter how many individual players are "doing it right."

There are other things more precious to me...

Oh I get it now. The program is off limits for political statements, but the sidelines are fair game. Fuckwits.

I don't believe this statement from the NFL. I would be shocked if they haven't aired commercials with liberal political messages in them.

It's not a question of "over the top," I'm just reminding everybody the boss said there'll be no beating up members that wish to continue supporting the NFL.

While I am fully in support of the ad, I can see why the NFL would not want to stir up the hornets nest anymore.
It would only create more controversy that would not be good for business.

I am proud of my wife! We go to a fun superbowl party every year even though I rarely spend a second watching the game. I was not going to go this year, but had not discussed it yet. This morning, the wife said we are not going! We didn't know each other when I served but her dad also retired from the Navy.

I was going to post a reply, but then saw that someone else already spelled out, nearly verbatim, my exact thoughts.

Thank you sir.
