Far be it for Governor Whitmer to find another revenue stream, but she did... Michigan State University will allow alcohol to be sold at sporting events Alcohol sales could bring in $250,000 a game https://www.clickondetroit.com...-at-sporting-events/ EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State University Board of Trustees has given the for OK for alcohol to be sold at sporting events. That includes several venues: Spartan Stadium, Breslin Student Events Center, Munn Ice Arena, Old College Field (Demartin Soccer Stadium), Secchia Stadium, and McLane Baseball Stadium. Next, the university has to apply for liquor licenses. The first beers could be poured as soon as the third week of the season. This comes a month after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation to allow alcohol to be sold at college sporting events and make liquor-to-go permanent. I had forgotten it had stopped., or I think stopped, been to a few UR footbal games (university of Richmond) and don't recall any alcohol for sale anywhere, but plenty in the parking lot (tail gating,) however, when I was at VCU back in the early 80's, you could buy plenty of beer, in the area around the coliseum (inside,) but you had to consume it before you went into the stands, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Times have changed. It's interesting to see the students reactions at my school when I tell them there were not only bars on campus, not only "in this quad", but in this very building. (often in the space their dorm room now occupies, which is how the topic comes up.) I'm sure this wasn't uncommon at the time, and went away in large part to them raising the drinking age to 21. It was also probably far more trouble than it was worth, and is now just a bit of history in the rather large "someone really thought this was a good idea?" file. Students will ask me, "Were there really bars on campus?" I say there were in fact LOTS of bars on campus.

Well, our A.G. has easier access to beverages now. Many of us haven’t forgotten this. From the Detroit Free Press 11/21/21 Dave Boucher Detroit Free Press View Comments It was the second bloody mary that sealed the fate of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. The state's leading law enforcement officer needed to be helped home midway through the recent Michigan-Michigan State football game after drinking too much, Nessel acknowledged in a Facebook post that was both playful and apologetic. "I laid low for a while, but my friends recommended that I leave so as to prevent me from vomiting on any of my constituents (polling consistently shows 'Roman showers' to be unpopular among most demographics)," said Nessel, a Democrat. "I had a few folks help me up the stairs and someone grabbed a wheelchair so as to prevent me from stumbling in the parking lot." -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. Sounds like a gold mine for under aged drinking investigations.

Incredibly stupid idea. One lawsuit will wipe out any profit. Extra security will be costly as well.

Drink until you can't tell MSU is losing! Maybe fans won't realize their football team finished tied for 10th. Drink until having 14 teams (soon to be 18 teams) in a conference called the Big Ten makes sense! My Alma Mater UK is doing the same this year, last year Alcohol sales were limited to the skybox/suite area only, which of course pissed off every fan that wanted to have a beer at the game who wasn't in the blueblood privileged level. So this year it's stadium wide, prices will be super high, part is profit part is to reduce consumption since $15 a beer tends to be expensive. Folks have been partaking of alcohol in parking lots for years at these games, and some sneaking in liquor and mixing it with their Coke or Sprite. Booze is big money, it is a shame and inevitable at the same time..

There's been beer sold at GT games for the last 3 years. I have noticed no difference in drunkenness at the games. I actually think it stops many people from overdrinking before they head into the stadium, knowing they can grab a beer or two inside. I don't see any extra security needs, students all enter specific gates and have wristbands. IDs are checked when buying a beer. Beer, for an underage kid, is much easier to get outside the game (it's everywhere) and beer is expensive enough inside the stadium that college kids aren't likely to abuse it, even if they could get it. $15 a beer? You can get a 30-pack of Bud Light for that! "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

They've been selling beer at WVU games for some years now and it's has not been a problem for a few reasons. First there are always lines, they ID everyone, the price is high, and they stop sale at the end of the 3rd quarter. One thing they did do that really cut down on the drunks and stoned people was to eliminate the passes to be able to return, after leaving the game at halftime, because many just left to smoke a joint, chug 4 beers/wiskeys etc. only to return shitfaced. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

They have to pay you to drink Bud Light so that might not be a good example. What gets me now at games is they: card everybody regardless of age, don't take cash.
