Normal go to spot is mexico but even I am hesitant to go there now. So I found a resort in Antigua - galley bay that has "seperated suites/privacy suites"

Doesnt look bad at all. They dont have the dates i want for the Ganguin suite in the link below. Anybody have a recommendation for a similar privacy type cottage/suite? Like to stay under 6k flight included.

Galley bay - ganguin suite

Thanks for the help.

Can't help with the lodging request but wanted to post that I'm looking forward to seeing any pictures you post of your vacation. My parents, younger brother, and me lived in Antigua from 1973-1975 and some of my best childhood memories are from there.

-used to walk from the house to Halcyon Cove and go swimming every day.
-Half Moon Bay gave me quite a scare when I got rolled and held under by some (to me 'cause I was 6 years old) big waves but Dad charged out in the surf when I didn't come up.
-French toast breakfast at the Holiday Inn was a real treat on Sundays,
-and Nelson's Dockyard was a treasure to a young boy interested in sailing ships and history.

Very interested to see how the island looks today via your photos when you get back. Have a great time!

Wife and I stayed there in those suites. We loved it. The bathroom is across the breezeway and where you hang your clothes, store luggage, etc. If I recall correctly it was not air conditioned, but large enough for two to navigate around in at the same time. The bedroom is just large enough to navigate around the bed, but still plenty good and the AC worked well.

The plunge pool area is perfect for au natural sunning and swimming, even though the back side of the suite is not fenced, as it looks out on a nature area and pond. No one there is spying on you.

The people there are super nice and accommodating.

We have since been going to the Couples Resorts in Jamaica. They don't have the suites like that, although I believe Couples Tower Isle has recently or will add some, but very pricey.

Whats the drink situation BigWhup? Says you have to go to the bar to get cocktails? Might be best bringing my own booze so I dont have to run up to the bar every 45 minutes?

Yes, they have several bars, but they tend to be open at various times. If you are staying in those cottages you need to have your own stock or walk a ways to get drinks, which is not optimal.

We were in the cottage closest to the main restaurant and pool but it was still farther than you want to go back and forth for drinks.

They made the best Mojitos we've ever had there.

You can take a "free" tour across the island to the top of a mountain where they have a drum circle and other tourist trap events. It was fun and the view was outstanding. The trip is a little harrowing, being on the wrong side of the road and many blind curves.

The frogs singing at night are amazingly loud. I thought at first there was a motor of some type running with a squeaking fan belt as that is the sound of the frog chorus!

Just did, thank you. Not quite what I'm looking for. Little more seclusion.
