What did you make for dinner?
So tonight I made Thai Drunken Noodles. Unfortunately my grocery store did not carry wide rice noodles so I used what they had. This was my first time making this and it turned out really good!

Last night's dinner. Perfect blend of spicy/smokey/sweet. The sweet was brought by home grown red pepper and sweet onion. The smokey came from pecan wood. The spicy came from home grown jalapenos. Made with smoked ground beef, ground pork, and flat iron steaks. Yes it has beans, sorry guys.

My beautiful wife is making "meat pie," as you can see from the recipe. Ah hepped at being sous chef and it was very enjoyable...

Will try to take a photo of the finished product but there's likely to be a big chunk missing, quite quickly Big Grin

Chicken salad sandwich. Last night, reflecting on 9/11 I simply ripped open an Italian Sausage with Onions and Peppers in Marinara Sauce MRE (Meal, Ready to Eat). Seemed appropriate. And also a very good MRE!

Pad Kee Mao with Lakewoood Double Chocolate Ale. An excellent pairing.

The finished product looks great (I want some), but I'm having a little trouble reading the recipe.

Meatloaf en croute? Meatloaf wellington? Never seen that before. Looks good. I like that kind of dish - I've been eating a lot of personal sized chicken pot pies recently. Food with pie crust - yum. Smile

Wow - I didn't know you could eat lamb rare like that. I've had beef that rare (in fact, raw like carpaccio or sashimi or tataki). I've always had it medium well / well. How does it taste? Do you marinade them first?

I can't get wide Thai noodles at the regular grocery either. I do like drunken noodles. It is worth it to search out a Thai grocery and get some fresh (not dried) wide noodles. It makes a surprising difference. They don't keep too long, though.

The recipe just calls it a "meat pie." However, i like your idea of calling it, "Meatloaf Wellington." Smile

It was very good and we've not had it in some time, so it was a nice change.

It's ground beef, of course, with sauteed onions, carrots and celery, along with pistachios, which really makes it a treat Big Grin

If you like those, you should try a tourtiere (Canadian style meat pie). They are very good. Chef John has a great recipe for them.

Pasties are very good as well. I'll make them a couple times a year and freeze them. Quick and easy meals when I don't feel like cooking.

Good stick to your ribs food.

Used the last of the chili from a fee nights ago for chili cheese dogs. Freaking delicious.
