I did a search, it's been way too long without some BLT goodness on here. My tomatoes are so ripe and delicious I just had to have one. I hope you all are able to enjoy some as well.

Looks great! We did some last week. Got gifted a couple Jersey Beefsteaks, so I bought some thick cut uncured, applewood smoked stuff, a head of Romaine and a loaf of bakery sourdough. So damned good. Definitely the right time of year for BLT's.

It's been a disappointing year for the tomatoes, probably due to all the rainy days we had in June and July, but that hasn't stopped me from building and consuming at least a dozen BLT's this summer. When you have the option of carrying in a sun-ripened tomato and slicing it while it is still warm from the sun...it's not too late for lunch, there's red in the garden, here I go.

What kind of mayo is that? Looks like it's got chunks in it?

My newly discovered fav courtesy of First Watch is their BLTE, a BLT with fried egg on it:

I guess I have to be the first to say it, where's the A in that BLT? Don't get me wrong, I agree with these things unconditionally: 1) mayo should be Dukes or, a distant second, Best Foods; 2) more B than L by a 3 to one margin, and 3) the T is best garden fresh or farmers market fresh.

But no avocado love? I'm disappointed.

Never did see much point in the lettuce. I get the crunch from the bacon. Kewpie mayo is also good on these. Duke's is the other go-to. Screw Miracle Whip.

I agree with you about the lettuce – it doesn’t earn the space it occupies.

But taste preferences are strictly personal. I don’t like Miracle Whip but some folks do, and that’s good by me

I make BTMs rather than BLTs – Bacon, Tomato, and Mayo (lots of Mayo).

Serious about crackers.

Disagree 100% about the lettuce not being needed

You want that cool crisp iceberg lettuce. The perfect outer layers are ideal and it’s just not balanced without it. Oh and don’t be afraid of mayo, my wife always puts a thin film on sandwiches and I tell her I need to be able to see and taste it!

Try it with peanut butter instead mayo. Bacon, tomato, peanut butter (no lettuce).

There is not much better than the taste of a homegrown tomato! Use that tomato for a BLT, and you have pure heavenly goodness!

I have made peanut butter and bacon sandwiches before and I love them. I will have to see what adding tomato does.
