David Clarke may be joining the Trump administration after resigning Thursday from his position as sheriff of Milwaukee County, Wis.
Clarke has been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, despite being a Democrat, and two sources told Politico that he is expected to take a job in the White House. Clarke has appeared regularly on Fox News, and spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention.
Politico reported that the administration is unlikely to appoint him to a position requiring Senate confirmation, and is instead going to give him a position in the White House. Administration officials declined to say whether Clarke would be taking a job.
"We have no announcement at this time," White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters told Politico.
"Will talk about my future plans next week," Clarke said in a text.
Clarke's record has come under increased scrutiny after deaths among his Milwaukee County jail inmates. These include Terrill Thomas, who died of dehydration after being denied water for several days.
Trump has remained supportive of Clarke, however, even tweeting to promote his book, Cop Under Fire: Moving Beyond Hashtags of Race, Crime and Politics for a Better America.
Clarke had previously said he was taking a position in the Department of Homeland Security, but he announced that he was withdrawing his acceptance of the job. It is unclear whether he was ever officially offered a position.

oddballMILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. (Ret.) has announced that after a nearly 40-year career in law enforcement, he will serve as a spokesman and Senior Advisor for America First Action.
Clarke says he chose America First Action because it is the primary political action committee dedicated to electing candidates who support the agenda of the Trump-Pence administration and will be out front on the campaign trail to reelect President Trump in 2020.
About the new post, Clarke said, "I will help make sure we elect the candidates who will do what they promise in support of President Trump's agenda. Just as important, I will see to it that the will of the American people is not derailed by the left or the self -serving Washington establishment."

parabellumWhat happened to all the criticism of the man and the speculation that "someone got to him". C'mon, we can afford to eat our own. We have so many allies, what's one less? Right?
Let's speculate in the worst way and let's criticize the man.

oddballI think he chose wisely.
Trump needs all the help he can get outside of the White House. Clarke has already proven his effectiveness in front of the media and it makes sense he continues this role. I'm glad he's on our side.

I think I hear Liberal heads popping in the distance (and maybe a RINO or two).

parabellumRather than jumping on this story and speculating, wouldn't it have been a good idea to wait just a couple of days and see where this was going?

Having seen him in person at one of our luncheons where he spoke, I can assure you that you are are correct.
