The missile, named Khaibar Buster, is a reference to a battle fought between Muslims and Jews in 628 A.D. In that battle, the last remaining tribe of Jews in Medina was destroyed.

Iran unveils new missile it says can strike US bases, Israel

By The Associated Press
Feb 9, 04:31 AM

Iran's state TV reported that nation has a new solid fuel missile with a range of 900 miles. It is called the Khaibar-buster, a reference to a Jewish castle overrun by Muslim warriors in the early days of Islam. (Twitter).

Iran unveiled a new missile on Wednesday with a reported range that would allow it to reach both U.S. bases in the region as well as targets inside its archfoe Israel.

State TV reported that the missile has solid fuel and a range of 900 miles. It is called the Khaibar-buster, a reference to a Jewish castle overrun by Muslim warriors in the early days of Islam.

It said the missile has high accuracy, is manufactured completely domestically, and can defeat missile shield systems. The information has not been independently verified.

Israel’s closest point to Iran is some 620 miles, away.

The report comes as negotiations continue in Vienna to revive Tehran’s tattered nuclear deal with world powers. Iran, which has long said it does not seek nuclear weapons, insists its missile program is only a deterrent.

Iran has missiles that can travel up to 1,250 miles.

Earlier in January Iran tested an engine for a solid-fuel rocket designed to launch satellites.

Apart from these missiles, Iran nuclear capability is again in the news and I'd have to think the Israeli's are looking at their maps and getting their strike logistics ready.

Biden restores Iran sanctions waiver in scramble to return to nuke deal

By Joseph Clark - The Washington Times - Saturday, February 5, 2022

President Biden has restored sanctions waivers allowing for certain countries to participate in Iranian civil nuclear projects as the administration presses forward on talks to salvage the Obama-era Iran nuclear deal.

The State Department said the waivers were not granted as part of a “concession to Iran,” but were “issued as part of a policy discretion.”

“We are issuing the waiver now for a simple reason: it will enable some of our international partners to have more detailed technical discussions to enable cooperation that we view as being in our non-proliferation interests,” a senior State Department official said.

The administration said restoring the waivers was critical for returning to the negotiating table with Iran in the hopes of returning to the nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“The waiver with respect to these activities is designed to facilitate discussions that would help to close a deal on a mutual return to full implementation of the JCPOA and lay the groundwork for Iran’s return to performance of its JCPOA commitments,” the State Department said in a notice to Congress obtained by the Associated Press.

The so-called “civ-nuke” waivers restored by the Biden administration specifically allow third countries to work on Iranian civil nuclear projects at the Bushehr nuclear power station, Arak heavy water power, and Tehran Research Reactor.

“Absent this sanctions waiver, detailed technical discussions with third parties regarding the disposition of stockpiles and other activities of nonproliferation value cannot take place,” a senior State Department official said.

Mr. Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement in 2018 and reimposed the sanctions that had previously been lifted as part of the accord.

Mr. Trump maintained the “civ-nuke” waivers until May 2020, when he removed them as part of his “maximum pressure” campaign.

Mr. Biden has committed to returning to the deal, and U.S. officials have warned that the administration has just weeks to reach an agreement given Iran’s nuclear development progress.

Tehran is demanding that the administration restore sanctions relief granted under the original deal.

Lawmakers have been critical of the administration for reentering the negotiations despite Tehran’s blatant disregard for its commitments under the agreement.

“I am deeply concerned these waivers show the administration is preparing to cut a nuclear deal with Iran that would be worse than the original JCPOA,” said Rep. Michael T. McCaul, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee from Texas. “We already know that Iran will enter any new deal closer to amassing enough fuel for a nuclear weapon than it was under the JCPOA.”

“Another bad deal is worse for our national security than no deal,” he said.

They can have all the missiles they want but deep down inside they know we have the capabilities to turn their whole shithole into a sandpit or a parking lot.

Capabilities? Sure. The will to go nuclear in the Middle East? I doubt even Biden is that dumb.

On the other hand, Israel is who Iran should be concerned about.

In a sea of ridiculous countries in that region, Iran is a standout for their constant, unending stupid shit. If they keep screwing around, Israel is going to squash them because they will feel as if they have no choice.

At this point, I wouldn't mind seeing Israel nuke this trash. I'm completely serious. A couple of low-yield nukes in the right places and the Iranians can get all wild-eyed and scream in the streets and it won't make a bit of difference. And the UN can "condemn" Israel, which, if memory serves me, they've already done, and all it is, is meaningless hot air.

All Israel needs is the provocation, and y'know, the Iranian government is stupid enough, fanatical enough, to give Israel the excuse it needs to use part of their nuclear arsenal, andd then, the Iranian people will turn on their own government.

I stand with Israel and whatever they decide. I wish our administration had the resolve to do the same.

It has been pretty easy for us in this country, for the most part out of reach of attack. Not so for Israel. They are in a constant struggle for survival. It is why they are who they are. They have my utmost respect.

We don't need to go nuclear to flatten that rat hole. We can do it with the assets we already have.
