CopefreeLet's talk about cheese burgers for a minute
You're supposed to dress the patty with cheese, not dress the bottom bun with cheese.
That's an insult to the patty.

rusbroTime to break out this oldie-but-goodie (note the cheese is on top):

StlheadCheese is for pizza and wine. Veggies are what meat eats. Meat, condiments, bun optional.

PatenLately I've been getting my cheeseburgers without the cheese. I don't think I'm missing anything.

And if your cheese is that plastic wrapped imitation, just leave now.
Yes. Toasting the bun is important.

signewthard to tell some of the above ain't 'casserole'....
Tillamook cheddar melted into the medium rare patty; onto some kinda bun/bread capable of soaking up the drippings without getting too soggy; add a few chopped onions if ya just gotta add anything, & French's yellow squirted in a spiral, top with suitable bread/bun.
That's a classic cheeseburger. Meat. Real non GDC Cheese. The bun is supposed to be a bit soggy from the essential meat juices now chewable instead of running down your dickie; and rarely is the onion required.
A mountain man buddy with extensive experience in prepping an extremely extensive and varied menu tells me anything green with meat is a sign it ain't fit to eat. Even pepper bacon is considered a sign of inadequate burger/cheese preparation with this guy.

signewtMy Luddite mountain buddies point out 'cheeseburger' is a different creature than 'cheese on a burger'; I've been exposed enough to their examples of each to believe they are right.

Pipe SmokerThe only thing wrong with cheeseburgers is that they don't have bacon.
Serious about crackers. October 30, 2017, 05:57 PM
jbcummingsCan we go back to debating Chili beans/no beans? This petty cheese thing is just making me hungry.

sean7The bacon, cheese, and jalapenos go on top of the meat. If you need other veggies, they go underneath the meat.

henryarnaudWhen I assemble a burger it's veggies between patty and bottom bun, cheese and bacon between patty and top bun. Condiments spread on both buns (unless I include relish, which goes on the bottom bun only).

barndg00I vote for some type of fat between the bun and other portions of the burger. For me, that is Bun, mayo, burger, cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato (only if fresh), mayo, Bun. I could understand using cheese on he bottom instead of mayo. The fat layer prevents the juices from making the bun soggy...

1s1kI put the cheese on top as a last ingredient so I can melt it so it holds all the other ingredients in place. I hate taking a bite from one end and your jalepenos and other ingredients fall out the backside onto your plate.

bdylanCheese on top of the meat. Cheese on the bun is an assembly line practice that you will not find on a properly made cheeseburger.

KrazeehorseTry A1 as a condiment sometime. A burger is ground up steak after all. That being said I usually don't use anything on my steak unless it's not a good piece of meat and I'm stuck with it.
